Horn Button Assembly

NOTE: For Spiral Cable removal, refer to that component. Clockspring Assembly / Spiral Cable

HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY


REPLACEMENT

1. PRECAUTION
2. SEPARATE BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL




3. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.2 [45186 / 98-52]
4. REMOVE SWITCH & VOLUME CASE [86174A / 98-52]
5. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH MODULATOR [84245A / 98-52]

6. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSY [45130 / 98-52]
a. Place the front wheels facing straight ahead.
b. Using a torx socket wrench (T30), loosen the 2 torx screws until the groove along the screw circumference catches on the screw case.




c. Pull out the wheel pad from the horn button assy.
d. Disconnect the airbag connector and remove the horn button assy.

CAUTION:
- When storing the horn button assy, keep the upper surface of the pad facing upward.
- Never disassemble the horn button assy.

NOTE: When removing the wheel pad, take care not to pull the airbag wire harness.

7. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSY [45130 / 98-52]
a. Connect the airbag connector of horn button assy.
b. Install the horn button assy after confirming that the circumference groove of the torx screws is caught on the screw case.
c. Using a torx socket wrench, install the 2 screws.

Torque: 8.8 N.m (90 kgf.cm, 78 in.lbf)

8. INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSY [45130 / 98-52]

9. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
