Front Suspension Lower Arm ASSY LH
REPLACEMENTHINT:
^ COMPONENTS: See Diagrams; Exploded Views.
^ Replace the RH side by the same procedures with LH side.
1. REMOVE WHEELHUB ORNAMENT SUB-ASSY [42603/98-46]
a) Remove the 10 bolts and wheel hub ornament sub-assy.
2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
a) Remove the 5 nuts and front wheel.
3. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER [51441D/98-45]
4. LOOSEN FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ASSY LH [48640/98-42]
a) Loosen the 2 bolts.
NOTICE: Do not remove it.
5. SEPARATE SMOCK ABSORBER ASSY FRONT LH [48520/98-63]
a) Remove the bolt and nut, and disconnect the shock absorber from the shock absorber bracket.
b) Remove the nut and disconnect the height control sensor link from the shock absorber bracket.
6. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSY LH [48810/98-63]
a) Remove the bolt and nut, and disconnect the stabilizer link from the stabilizer bar.
b) Remove the nut and stabilizer link.
7. SEPARATE RACK & PINION POWER STEERING GEAR ASSY [44250/98-53]
a) Remove the 2 bolts and steering rack housing bracket No. 2.
b) Remove the 2 bolts and separate the steering gear assy.
8. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ASSY LH [48640/98-62]
a) Remove the cotter pin and nut.
b) Using SST, disconnect the lower arm assy from the lower ball joint.

c) Remove the bolt and shock absorber bracket from the lower arm assy.
d) Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the lower arm assy from the suspension lower arm No. 2.
e) Place matchmarks on the camber adjusting cam and suspension cross member.
f) Remove the nut, camber adjust cam No. 2, camber adjust cam No. 1 and lower suspension arm assy.
9. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER ARM ASSY LH [48640/98-62]
a) Install the shock absorber bracket to the suspension lower arm assy with the bolt.
Torque: 59 Nm (600 kgf-cm, 44 ft. lbs.)
b) Install the suspension lower arm assy with the camber adjust cam No. 1, camber adjust cam No. 2 and nut.
c) Align the matchmarks on the camber adjusting cam and suspension crossmember.
Torque: 172 Nm (1,755 kgf-cm, 127 ft. lbs.)
HINT: After stabilizing the suspension, torque the nut.
d) Connect the lower suspension arm assy to the lower ball joint.
e) Install the nut and new cotter pin.
Torque: 162 Nm (1,650 kgf-cm, 119 ft. lbs.)
f) Install the 2 bolts.
Torque: 164 Nm (1,690 kgf-cm, 121 ft. lbs.)
HINT: After stabilizing the suspension, torque the nut.
10. CONNECT THE RACK AND PINION POWER STEERING GEAR ASSY [44250/98-53]
a) Connect the steering gear assy with the 2 bolts
Torque 65 Nm (663 kgf-cm, 48 ft. lbs.)
b) Install the steering rack housing bracket No. 2 with the 2 bolts
Torque 65 Nm (663 kgf-cm, 48 ft. lbs.)
11. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSY LH
a) Install the stabilizer link to the stabilizer bar with the bolt and nut.
Torque 51 Nm (520 kgf-cm, 38 ft. lbs.)
b) Install the stabilizer link with the nut.
Torque 113 Nm (1150 kgf-cm, 83 ft. lbs.)
12. INSTALL SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY FRONT LH
a) Install the shock absorber to the shock absorber bracket with the bolt and nut
Torque 157 Nm (1600 kgf-cm, 116 ft. lbs.)
b) Install the height control sensor link to the shock absorber bracket with the nut.
Torque 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 inch lbs.)
13. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER [51441D/98-65]
14. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
a) Install the front wheel with the 5 nuts.
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
15. INSTALL WHEEL HUB ORNAMENT SUB-ASSY [42603/98-46]
a) Install the wheel hub ornament embassy with the 10 bolts.
Torque: 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft. lbs.)
16. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
