Subject:
ADJUSTMENT OF TIRE INFLATION PRESSURE

The purpose of this Technical Service Bulletin is to advise of a precaution that should be taken when adjusting tire pressure on the SC430.

Tire pressure normally changes depending on ambient temperature. If the ambient temperature rises by 10°C (18°F), the tire pressure increases by approximately 10 kPa (1.5 psi).

When adjusting tire pressure on the SC430, it is possible to turn on the low pressure warning indicator light if consideration is not taken regarding the change between indoor and outdoor ambient temperatures.

For example, if tire pressure is adjusted to 230 kPa (33.4 psi) indoors at 25°C (77°F) and the vehicle is then driven outside where the temperature is -30°C (-22°F), the tire pressure will decrease to approximately 175 kPa (25.4 psi). Since the Tire Pressure Warning System operates when tire pressure is below 180 kPa (26 psi), the Tire Pressure Warning System will likely turn on the warning indicator light.

NOTE:
The tire pressure should be adjusted considering the outdoor temperature (actual use condition) when it is adjusted indoors, or the tire pressure should be adjusted outdoors
.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES: 2002 model year SC430 vehicles.

NOTE:
Issue of this Technical Service Bulletin is to ensure that proper repair information is available. IT DOES NOT CONSTITUTE AN AUTHORIZATION FOR REPAIR. Normal provisions of the formal warranty policy, as applicable, will apply.
