DOOR WOOD TRIM PANEL VIBRATION (REVISION)








Some 2002 - 2004 model year SC 430 vehicles may exhibit a vibrating/buzzing noise from the wood portion of the inner door trim panel while playing heavy bass from the speakers. The procedures below have been developed to correct this condition.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
2002 - 2004
model year SC 430 vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

REQUIRED TOOLS AND MATERIALS:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:







1. Remove the power window regulator master switch assembly.

NOTE:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.








2. Remove the door inside handle bezel NO. 2. LH
a) Using a taped screwdriver, remove the door inside handle bezel.







3. Remove the front door window upper bracket garnish LH
a) Remove the upper bracket garnish.







4. Remove the inner door trim panel sup-assembly LH
a) Remove the 8 screws.
b) Remove the clip.
c) Using a taped screwdriver, remove the door panel.
d) Disconnect the 2 cables from the inside handle.
e) Disconnect the courtesy light and seat memory harnesses.

5. Remove the wood ornament from the inner door trim panel sub-assembly by removing the 11 screws from the back of the board.







6. Fit a felt piece to the ornament as shown in the illustration (red portion).

NOTE:
- If 1.5mm thick felt material is not available, layer multiple pieces to obtain the correct thickness.
- If felt material is shorter or longer than the following ornament length, patch multiple pieces together or cut the felt.


7. Remove the front door silencer pad, which is applied to the reverse side of the inner door trim panel sub-assembly.







8. Cut and combine pieces pieces of double sided adhesive tape (3M P/N 6383) to create 4 sections with the following dimensions:
9. Apply each section to the new front door silencer pad (P/N 67811-24030) as shown in the illustration below.







10. Install new front door silencer pad to the reverse side of the inner door trim panel sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

11. Reassemble the ornament to the inner door trim panel sub-assembly and reinstall onto the door.
12. Reassemble the door.
13. Repeat this procedure for the other side.
