Introduction





Some customers may experience rattle/squeak noises caused by the moon roof weatherstrip sticking to the body. The design and material of the weatherstrip has been updated to correct this condition.

Applicable Vehicles

^ 2002 - 2003 model year ES 300 vehicles.

^ 2004 model year ES 330 produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

Applicable Warranty*:

This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

1. Remove Moon Roof Rail Covers.





A. Use a screwdriver to release the clip at the front of the rail cover and remove.

NOTE:
Tape the tip of the screwdriver to prevent damage to the cover.

B. Remove the rail cover on the other side.





C. Use the taped screwdriver to release the 2 clips on the moon roof panel side garnish and remove.

D. Remove the side garnish on the other side.

2. Remove Moon Roof Glass Assembly.

A. Use a Torx wrench (T25) to remove the 4 mounting screws.

3. Remove the Moon Roof Weatherstrip.

A. Remove and replace the sliding roof weatherstrip with new part number 63251-48030.

4. Reassemble Moon Roof.
