Introduction
Under certain driving conditions, some 2003 model year ES 300 vehicles may exhibit a M.I.L. "ON" with at least one of the following DTCs as a result of an Air Fuel (A/F) Sensor manufacturing issue.
^ P0031 (Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Circuit Low [Bank 1, Sensor 1])
^ P0051 (Oxygen Sensor Heater Control Circuit Low [Bank 2, Sensor 1])
^ P2238 (Oxygen Sensor Pumping Current Circuit Low (for A/F Sensor) [Bank 1, Sensor 1])
^ P2241 (Oxygen Sensor Pumping Current Circuit Low (for A/F Sensor) [Bank 2, Sensor 1])
Replacement of the affected Air Fuel Sensor will correct this condition.

This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
Repair Procedure
P0031 or P0051
1. Refer to Technical Information System (TIS), 2003 ES 300 Repair Manual, Diagnostics, SFI System (1MZ-FE 2003 model year) P0031, P0032, P0051, P0052.
2. If there is an open circuit or excessive resistance in A/F Sensor heater, and DTC P0031 or P0051 is stored, replace the A/F sensor.
3. Only replace the A/F Sensor indicated by the M.I.L. "ON" DTC(s).
P2238 or P2241
1. Refer to Technical Information System (TIS), 2003 ES 300 Repair Manual, Diagnostics, SFI System (1MZ-FE 2003 model year) P2237, P2238, P2239, P2240, P2241, P2242.
2. If there is an open circuit in A/F Sensor heater and DTC P2238 or P2241 is stored, replace the A/F sensor.
3. Only replace the A/F Sensor indicated by the M.I.L. "ON" DTC(s).
