Introduction





A rattle may be heard during cold weather caused by the foam block behind the rear interior door trim panel. The following repair instructions have been developed.

Applicable Vehicles
^ 2002 - 2003 model year ES 300 vehicles produced before the VINs shown below.

Applicable Warranty * :
This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure





1. Remove the rear interior door trim panel to access the back side of the panel.

^ Refer to the 2002 or 2003 ES 300 Repair Manual Volume 2, page 75-16.





2. In the order shown in the diagram below, insert 4 pieces of EPT Sealer between the foam block and rear interior door trim panel.

EPT Sealer:
L: 50 mm
W: 10 mm
T: 5 mm

NOTE:
Use a screwdriver to gain clearance between the foam block and rear interior door trim panel.

3. Reinstall the rear interior door trim panel.

4. Confirm corrected condition.

5. If the condition exists on the opposite door, repeat steps 1 - 3.
