Introduction
This bulletin explains the initialization procedure for the driver's seat position and head restraint height on the 2001 - 2006 model year LS 430.
The head restraint height of the driver's seat adjusts automatically in relation to the driver's seat position. However, because the D/C CUT fuse is removed at the assembly plant to reduce parasitic current draw from the battery, the memory seat ECU cannot detect driver's seat and head restraint movement during vehicle transport. Therefore, it is necessary to initialize the driver's seat position and head restraint height after the D/C CUT fuse has been removed/installed during Pre-Delivery Service (PDS) or otherwise.
Please see TSIB No. PG006-00, "D/C CUT Fuse Installation During PDS," published September 1, 2000, for more information on fuse installation.
Applicable Vehicles
^ 2001 - 2006 model year LS 430 vehicles.

2. Initialize the driver's seat position and head restraint height using the following sequence:
A. Move the driver's seat all the way forward (direction "A" in diagram) until the seat motor stops.
B. Move the driver's seat all the way backward (direction "B") until the seat motor stops.
C. Move the head restraint up (direction "C") to the highest position until the head restraint motor stops.
D. Move the head restraint down (direction "D") to the lowest position until the head restraint motor stops.
3. Move the driver's seat forward and check that the head restraint is moved upward according to the driver's seat position.
NOTE
The automatic head restraint adjustment can be overridden by using the head restraint control switch for final adjustment.
