Front Seat Assembly LH (Power Seat Type)
OVERHAULCAUTION:
- Wear safety gloves, because the cutting surface of the seatback frame and seat adjuster may injure your hand.
- Work must be started more than 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.
(The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source. If work is started within 90 seconds from disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable of the battery, the SRS may deploy.)
- The yaw rate sensor is installed under the front seat RH.
- Be careful not to step on the yaw rate sensor after the seat has been removed.
HINT:
- The installation is in the reverse order of the removal. However, when there is a special point concern ing the installation, it is indicated.
- Use the same procedures on the RH side as on the LH side.
- When removing/installing and overhauling the passenger seat, check the passenger occupant classification system and perform the 0 point calibration (see Air Bag Systems; Testing and Inspection).
1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
2. REMOVE SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER OUTER FRONT LH
(a) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws and remove the bracket cover.
HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.
3. REMOVE SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER INNER FRONT LH
(a) Use the same procedures described for outer side.
4. REMOVE FRONT SEAT TRACK COVER LH REAR INNER
(a) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws and remove the bracket cover.
HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.
5. REMOVE FRONT SEAT TRACK COVER LH REAR OUTER
(a) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the track cover.
HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.
6. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSY LH
HINT: Set the front vertical in the most upper position.
(a) Remove the 4 bolts.
(b) Disconnect the connectors and then remove the front seat assy LH.
7. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK BOARD LH
(a) Remove the 2 rubber belts and 2 screws.
(b) Disengage the 9 claws and the front seatback board LH.
8. REMOVE SLIDE & VERTICAL POWER SEAT SWITCH KNOB
(a) Using a screwdriver, disengage the slide & vertical power seat switch knob.
(b) Use the same procedures described for other side.
9. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD LH
(a) Remove the 5 screws.
(b) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the front seat cushion shield and front seat cushion shield inner LH.
(c) Disconnect the connectors.
10. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER NO.1 LH
(a) Remove the screw.
(b) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws and remove the front seat cushion shield inner No.1 LH.
HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.
11. REMOVE POWER SEAT FRONT LH SWITCH ASSY
(a) Remove the 2 screws and the power seat front LH switch assy.
12. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION SHIELD INNER LH
(a) Remove the screw.
(b) Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws, clip and the front seat cushion shield inner LH.
HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.
13. REMOVE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH
(a) Remove the nut.
(b) Disconnect the connectors and remove the front seat inner belt assy LH.
14. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSY
15. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST SUPPORT
(a) Push the 4 claws and remove the headrest support.
(b) Use the same procedures described for other side.
16. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK COVER LH (W/SIDE AIR BAG)
(a) Disengage the 8 claws.
(b) Remove the nut.
(c) Remove the hog rings and front seatback cover LH.
(d) Disconnect the connector.
17. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK COVER LH (W/O SIDE AIR BAG)
(a) Disengage the 8 claws.
(b) Remove the hog rings and front seatback cover LH.
18. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK HEATER ASSY LH (WI SEAT HEATER)
(a) Cut off the tack pins which fasten the seat heater assy LH, and then remove the seat heater from the cushion cover LH.
19. REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK PAD LH
(a) Remove the front seatback pad LH.
(b) w/ Side airbag: Remove the 2 nuts and the side airbag.
20. REMOVE LH SEAT RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER
(a) Remove the 2 screws.
(b) Disengage the claw and the LH seat reclining adjuster inside cover.
21. REMOVE RH SEAT RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER
(a) Use the same procedures described for LH side.
22. REMOVE POSITION CONTROL ECU & SWITCH ASSY
(a) Remove the 3 screws.
(b) Disconnect the connectors and position control ECU & switch assy.
23. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER
(a) Disengage the 11 claws.
(b) Remove the hog rings and remove the separate type front seat cushion cover.
(c) Disconnect the connector.
24. REMOVE FRONT SEAT CUSHION HEATER ASSY LH (W/SEAT HEATER)
(a) Cut off the tack pins which fasten the seat heater, and then remove the seat heater from the cushion cover assy LH.
25. REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION PAD
26. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER LH
(a) Remove the screw and reclining adjuster inside cover LH.
27. REMOVE RECLINING ADJUSTER INSIDE COVER RH
(a) Use the same procedures described for LH side.
28. REMOVE LUMBAR SUPPORT ADJUSTER ASSY LH
(a) Disconnect the connector.
(b) Remove the 3 bolts and lumbar support adjuster assy LH.
29. REMOVE SEAT POSITION AIR BAG SENSOR (DRIVERS SEAT ONLY)
30. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (PASSENGER SEAT ONLY)
31. REMOVE FRONT SEAT WIRE LH
(a) Disengage the claw and remove the front seat wire LH.
32. REMOVE FRONT SEAT FRAME
33. INSTALL SEAT POSITION AIR BAG SENSOR (DRIVERS SEAT ONLY)
(a) Using a torx socket wrench (T30), install the airbag sensor with the torx bolt.
Torque: 8.0 Nm (82 kgf-cm, 71 in.-lbf)
(b) Connect the wire harness connector.
34. INSTALL FRONT SEAT CUSHION HEATER ASSY LH (W/ SEAT HEATER)
(a) Set the seat heater to the separate type front seat cushion cover.
(b) Install the seat heater to the separate type front seat cushion cover with the 32 tack pins.
NOTICE: Do not substitute other metal parts for tack pins.
35. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEAT CUSHION COVER
(a) Using hog ring pliers, install the separate type front seat cushion cover with new hog rings on the separate type front seat pad.
NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the cover.
- When installing the hog rings, prevent creases from being formed.
36. INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK HEATER ASSY LH (W/ SEAT HEATER)
(a) Set the seat heater to the front seatback cover.
(b) Install the seat heater to the front seatback cover with the 6 tack pins.
NOTICE: Do not substitute other metal parts for tack pins.
37. INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK COVER LH (W/ SIDE AIRBAG)
NOTICE:
- For a vehicle with side airbag, if the seat back cover has damage, the side airbag may not active normally. Therefore it is necessary to replace the seat back cover.
- For a vehicle with side airbag, if the side airbag deploys replace the pad, seat back cover and the frame with new ones.
- For a vehicle with side airbag, the side airbag may not active normally unless the seat back cover is securely installed, as shown in the following procedures.
(a) Install the side airbag with 2 nuts on the seat adjuster assy.
(b) Using hog ring pliers, install the front seatback cover LH with new hog rings on the separate type front seat cushion pad.
NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the cover.
- When installing the hog rings, prevent creases from being formed.
(c) Install the nut.
(d) Connect the connector.
38. INSTALL FRONT SEATBACK COVER LH (W/O SIDE AIRBAG)
(a) Using hog ring pliers, install the front seatback cover with new hog rings on the separate type front seat cushion pad.
NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the cover.
- When installing the hog rings, prevent creases from being formed.
39. INSTALL FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH
(a) Install the front seat inner belt assy LH with nut.
Torque: 42 Nm (428 kgf-cm, 31 ft-lbf)
(b) Connect the connector.
40. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSY LH
(a) Place the seat in the cabin.
(b) Connect the connectors under the seat.
(c) Tighten the 2 bolts on the front side of the seat.
Torque: 36.8 Nm (375 kgf-cm, 27 ft-lbf)
(d) Tighten the 2 bolts on the rear side of the seat.
Torque: 36.8 Nm (375 kgf-cm, 27 ft-lbf)
(e) Install the 4 seat track covers.
41. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
42. INSPECT FUNCTION OF POWER SEAT OPERATION
43. CHECK SEAT HEATER OPERATION (W/ SEAT HEATER)
44. INITIALIZE FRONT PASSENGER OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM

45. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
