TRUNK PASS THROUGH V-BRACE RATTLE
Some customers of '02 - '03 model year ES 300 and '04 ES 330 vehicles may experience a rattle from below the rear package tray area or behind the rear seat back while driving. The following procedure has been developed to improve this condition.
APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2002 - 2003 model year ES 300 vehicles.
- 2004 model year ES 330 vehicles BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown below.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Remove Rear Seat Cushion Sub-Assembly.
a) Pull up on either side of the 2 seat cushion fasteners to detach from the clips.
NOTE:
Pull up to release the front of the seat cushion as shown in the diagram to prevent deforming the seat cushion frame.
b) Pull the seat cushion forward and remove.
2. Remove The Rear Seat Back Assembly.
a) Remove the 4 bolts that secure the seat back bottom to the frame.
b) Lift the rear seat back assembly to detach the 3 fasteners from the clips.
c) Pull the entire assembly forward and lift the trunk pass through insulating material to expose the V-brace.
3. Tighten V-Brace.
a) Retighten the 2 bolts and the 4 nuts on the V-Brace.
BOLTS
Torque: 40 N-m (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft-lbf)
NUTS
Torque: 20 N-m (205 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)
4. Install Rear Seat Back Assembly.
a) Install the rear seat back assembly and the 4 bolts.
Torque: 18.1 N-m (185 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf)
5. Install Rear Seat Cushion Assembly.
NOTICE:
Securely engage the rear seat cushion wire under the pipe child restraint seat anchor bracket sub-assembly.
6. Confirm Repair Effectiveness.
