Variable Valve Timing Solenoid: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. REMOVE V-BANK COVER
2. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE
3. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY
4. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (BANK 1)
a. Remove the bolt, and disconnect the engine wire protector from the camshaft bearing cap.
b. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.
c. Remove the bolt and oil control valve.
d. Remove the O-ring from the oil control valve.
5. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (BANK 2)
a. Disconnect the oil control valve connector.
b. Remove the bolt and oil control valve.
c. Remove the O-ring from the oil control valve.
INSPECTION
INSPECT CAMSHAFT OIL CONTROL VALVE OPERATION
Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and negative (-) lead to terminal 2, and check the movement of the valve.
If operation is not as specified, replace the valve.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (BANK 1)
a. Install a new O-ring to the oil control valve.
b. Attach the oil control valve to the camshaft bearing cap.
c. Install the oil control valve with the bolt.
Torque: 7.5 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf)
d. Connect the oil control valve connector.
e. Install the engine wire protector with the bolt.
2. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE (BANK 2)
a. Install a new O-ring to the oil control valve.
b. Attach the oil control valve to the camshaft bearing cap.
c. Install the oil control valve with the bolt.
Torque: 7.5 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf)
d. Connect the oil control valve connector.

4. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE
5. INSTALL V-BANK COVER
