ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. NOTICES WHEN CHECKING

a. Power door LOCK/UNLOCK function:

This wireless door lock control function operates only when the following 3 conditions are met.
1. No key is inserted into the ignition key cylinder.
2. All the doors are closed.
3. The power door lock system is functioning normally.

HINT:
- The UNLOCK function operates even when one of a doors is open.
- The UNLOCK function operates even when the key is inserted into the ignition key cylinder. However, it must be in the OFF position.

b. Power window OPEN and sliding roof OPEN function:

This wireless control function operates only when the following 3 conditions are met.
1. No key is inserted into the ignition key cylinder.
2. All the doors are unlocked.
3. The power window system and sliding roof system are functioning normally.

c. Luggage compartment door open function:

This wireless control function operates only when the following 3 conditions are met.
1. No key is inserted into the ignition key cylinder.
2. Luggage compartment door opener switch is OFF.
3. The luggage compartment door system is functioning normally.

d. Remote panic function:

This wireless control function operates only when the following condition is met.
1. The ignition switch is OFF.

HINT: The key can be inserted. However, the ignition switch must be in the OFF position.

e. The wireless transmitter operational area differs depending on the situation.

1. The operational area differs depending on the user, the way the transmitter is held and the location.
2. In certain areas, the operational area will be reduced due to the vehicle body shape and the influence of the surrounding environment.
3. The transmitter's faint electric waves may be affected if the area has strong electric waves or noise. The transmitter's operation area may be shortened or the transmitter may not function.
4. When the battery weakens, the operational area is reduced or the transmitter may not function.

HINT: If the transmitter has been left in a place that is exposed to direct sunlight, such as on the instrument panel, the battery may weaken or other problems may occur.

2. CHECK WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL FUNCTIONS

HINT:
- The door control transmitter's switches transmit signals and are described.
- All the functions listed below must be checked in the remote control operational area.

a. Put the vehicle in conditions that allow the wireless control function to be operated.

b. Check the basic functions.

1. Check that the transmitter's LED lights up 3 times when each switch is pressed 3 times.

HINT: If the LED does not illuminate when the switch has been pressed 3 times or more, the battery may be depleted.

2. Check that when the LOCK switch is pressed within 5 seconds after performing step (1), all doors (including the luggage compartment door) lock.
3. Check that when the LOCK switch is pressed within 5 seconds after performing step (2), the double locking system is set. The luggage compartment door status should not change.

CAUTION: A person may become trapped in the vehicle when the double locking system is set to ON as doors cannot be unlocked from the interior. Make sure that no one is inside the vehicle when using the double locking system.

4. Check that when the UNLOCK switch is pressed, all doors (including the luggage compartment door) unlock.

Also, check that the double locking system is canceled at the same time.
5. Check that when the UNLOCK switch is pressed once, only the designated door unlocks. When the unlock switch is pressed again within 3 seconds, check that all doors (including the luggage compartment door) unlock.
6. Check that when the LUGGAGE OPEN switch is pressed, the luggage compartment door opens.
7. Check that when the UNLOCK switch is held down for 3 seconds or more, all the power windows open and sliding roof opens. Also check that the open operation stops when the switch is released.

c. Check the chattering prevention function.

1. When a switch is held down, check that the corresponding operation occurs only once (does not repeatedly activate). And, when a switch is pressed at 1 second intervals, check that the corresponding operation activates once for every press of the switch.

d. Check the automatic locking function.

1. When all of the doors are unlocked with the UNLOCK switch and none of the doors are opened or locked within 30 seconds, check that the doors relock.

e. Check the switch operation fail-safe function.

1. If the key is in the ignition key cylinder, check that the doors cannot be locked by the LOCK switch. However, this does not apply when the system is in the recognition code registration mode.

f. Check the door ajar warning function.

1. If a door is open or not completely closed, check that the doors cannot be locked by the LOCK switch and buzzer sounds for 10 seconds.

g. Check the repeat function.

1. If the lock switch is pressed while the movement of the driver side door control knob is restricted, check if, 1 second later, the repeat function attempts to lock all of the doors again.

h. Check the answer-back function.

1. When the LOCK switch is pressed, check that the lamps flash once, the buzzer sounds once and all doors lock.
2. When the UNLOCK switch is pressed once, check that the lamps flash twice, the buzzer sounds twice and the designated door unlocks.
3. When the UNLOCK switch is pressed again within 3 seconds, check that the lamps flash twice, the buzzer sounds twice and all doors unlock.
4. When the UNLOCK switch is held down for 3 seconds, check that the buzzer sounds once and all the power windows and sliding roof start opening.
5. When the LUGGAGE OPEN switch is held down for 0.8 seconds, check that the buzzer sounds twice and the luggage compartment door opens.

i. Check the illuminated entry function.

1. When all doors are locked and the UNLOCK switch is pressed, check that 1): the room lamp illuminates (when the lamp switch is in the DOOR position), 2); the outer foot lamps illuminate and all doors unlock.
2. Check that the room lamp and outer foot lamps turn OFF in approximately 15 seconds if doors have not been opened.

j. Check the remote panic function.

1. If the LOCK (PANIC) switch is held down for 3 seconds or more, check if the theft alarm function sounds the horn, and flashes the headlamps and tail lamps for 60 seconds. And, check if pressing any switch on the transmitter stops horn, headlamps, and tail lamps.
