Outside Mirrors
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION1. CHECK MEMORY AND REACTIVATION FUNCTION
a. Turn the ignition switch ON and move the shift lever into the P position.
b. Check the M1 switch.
1. Using the outer mirror switch, move the mirror to the fully left position.
2. Press and hold down switches M1 and SET. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds, signaling that the outer mirror position has been recorded.
3. Change the position of the outer mirror and then press the M1 switch. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the outer mirror automatically moves to the position in step (b)-(1).
c. Check the M2 switch.
1. Using the outer mirror switch, move the mirror to the fully right position.
2. Press and hold down switches M2 and SET. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds, signaling that the outer mirror position has been recorded.
3. Change the position of the outer mirror and then press the M2 switch. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the outer mirror automatically moves to the position in step (c)-(1).
d. Check the M3 switch.
1. Using the outer mirror switch, move the mirror to the fully upward position.
2. Press and hold down switches M3 and SET. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds, signaling that the outer mirror position has been recorded.
3. Change the position of the outer mirror and then press the M3 switch. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the outer mirror automatically moves to the position in step (d)-(1).
e. When the outer mirror is in the driving position:
Check that switches M1, M2 and M3 cause the outer mirror to move to the recorded outer mirror positions under these conditions: turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position, remove the key from the key cylinder, open the driver side door and press M1, M2 or M3 within 30 seconds.
f. Check that the following procedures will erase the recorded outer mirror positions of switches M1, M2 and M3: press and hold the power seat slide switch; disconnect the battery's negative terminal cable; and wait for at least 1 minute.
g. Attempt to record a seat position by pressing and holding the SET switch and two other switches (among M1, M2 and M3). No outer mirror position should be recorded. Check this by pressing M1, M2 or M3 and making sure that the outer mirror does not move.
HINT: This step will only be true if step (f) was performed properly, whereby all previously recorded set positions were erased.
2. INSPECT ELECTRICALLY-RETRACT DOOR MIRROR
a. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
b. At each position of the outer mirror body, check operation when operating the retract switch of the outer mirror.
c. Check the outer mirror operation, as shown in the illustration.
1. Change the retract switch from the (A) position to the (B) position.
2. Check that the right and left mirrors move from the driving position to the retracted position.
If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assy.
d. Check the outer mirror operation, as shown in the illustration.
1. Move one of the mirrors to the forward position by hand.
2. Change the retract switch from the (A) position to the (B) position.
3. Check that the mirror moves from the forward position to the retracted position.
4. Check that the other mirror moves from the driving position to the retracted position.
If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assy.
e. Check the outer mirror operation, as shown in the illustration.
1. Move one of the mirrors to the retracted position by hand.
2. Change the retract switch from the (A) position to the (B) position.
3. Check that the other mirror moves from the driving position to the retracted position.
If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assy.
f. Check the outer mirror operation, as shown in the illustration.
1. Change the retract switch from the (B) position to the (A) position.
2. Check that the right and left mirrors move from the retracted position to the driving position.
If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assy.
g. Check the outer mirror operation, as shown in the illustration.
1. Move one of the mirrors to the driving position by hand.
2. Change the retract switch from the (B) position to the (A) position.
3. Check that the other mirror moves from the retracted position to the driving position.
If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assy.
h. Check operation of the outer mirror body as a result of retract switch operations and ignition switch position changes.
1. When the mirror body is operating, turn the ignition switch to LOCK. Check that the mirror operation does not stop and continues until the operation has finished.
2. Perform the above step again. This time, before the mirror operation finishes, turn the ignition switch to ACC and press the retract switch. Check that the mirror operates in the opposite direction If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assy.
i. Check operation of the outer mirror body when it is restrained by an obstacle.
1. When the mirror body is moving to the retracted or driving position, restrain the mirror body by hand.
Check that the mirror body movement stops.
2. With the mirror body stopped partway in (1), push the retract switch. Check that the mirror body moves in the opposite direction it was moving in (1).
If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assy.
3. CHECK ELECTRICALLY-AUTO RETRACT DOOR MIRROR
a. Set the mirror body in the retracted position.
b. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
c. Set the retract switch to the AUTO position.
d. Check the outer mirror operation, as shown in the illustration.
1. When turning the ignition switch to the ACC position, check that the mirror moves from the retracted position to the driving position.
2. When turning the ignition switch to the LOCK position, check that the mirror moves from the driving position to the retracted position.
If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assy.
4. CHECK REVERSE-SHIFT-LINKED OPERATION OF MIRRORS
a. Set the left/right adjustment switch in the L or R position.
b. Check that the mirror faces downward when the shift lever is moved into the R position.
If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assy.
