FRONT POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM (WITH MEMORY)

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. MANUAL OPERATION CHECK
a. Check that the power seat works whenever the power seat switches (for slide, front vertical, lifter, reclining, lumbar support) are operated.

2. MEMORY AND REPRODUCTION FUNCTION CHECK
a. Turn the ignition switch ON and move the shift position into the P range.
b. Move the seat into the maximum front and upper positions via each seat switch.
c. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds and the seat position is memorized when the memory switch 1 is pressed with the SET button of the memory switch kept pressing.
d. Move the seat out of the maximum front and upper positions via each seat switch.
e. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds and the seat position is memorized when the memory switch 2 is pressed with the SET button of the memory switch kept pressing.
f. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the seat automatically moves into the maximum front and upper positions (memorized positions) when the memory switch 1 is pressed.
g. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the seat automatically moves out of the maximum front and upper positions (memorized positions) when the memory switch 2 is pressed.
h. Check the seat automatically moves into the memorized position when the memory switch 1 or 2 is pressed within 30 seconds after the ignition switch is turned OFF and the key plate is pulled out from the key cylinder then the driver's door is opened.
i. Move the seat into the maximum position of the slide and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery while the memory switch is pressed ON then leave the seat in the position for 3 minutes. Deletion of the seat position's memory has been done.
j. Move the seat into all the maximum positions (front/rear and upper/down) via each seat switch.
k. Check that the seat does not move (the seat position is not memorized) when M1 or M2 switch is pressed, after the memory switch 1 and 2 are pressed at one time while pressing the SET button of the memory switch.

INITIALIZATION
1. INITIALIZE SLIDING FUNCTION AND RECLINING FUNCTION OF POWER SEAT ECU
a. The power seat ECU must be initialized under any of the following conditions. The initialization sets the absolute position of the power seat's sliding and reclining functions.

HINT: Controlling the power seat's sliding and reclining functions together prevents the power seat from interfering with the rear seat during the power seat's sliding or reclining operation.
- The battery is disconnected.
- The D/C cut fuse is replaced.
- The power seat switch (power seat ECU) is replaced.
- The power seat assembly is removed from the vehicle.
- Initialization is cancelled.

b. Initialize the sliding function and reclining function of the power seat ECU as follows.
(1) Reconnect the battery and use the sliding or reclining function with the power seat switch to move the power seat to the foremost position (lock position). A buzzer should sound for 0.1 seconds.
(2) Use another function (sliding or reclining), which was not used at step (1) to move the power seat to the foremost position (lock position). A buzzer should sound for 0.5 seconds.
(3) The power seat ECU's initialization should be completed.

NOTICE: If the initialization is not completed, the power seat's sliding and reclining functions cannot be controlled together. If the initialization is not completed, a buzzer should sound continuously at 0.45 seconds intervals while the power seat is sliding or reclining backwards. If the initialization is not completed, the power seat ECU will not memorize any seat position.

2. CANCEL INITIALIZATION OF POWER SEAT ECU

HINT: When the power seats sliding and reclining functions linked control does not work properly, the seat's operational area is restricted. In this case, cancel the initialization of the power seat ECU so that the sliding and reclining functions can be operated differently.

a. Operate the power seat switch to slide the seat to the foremost position or fully recline the seatback to the front. Continue to hold the switch for at least 10 seconds. Then, cancellation of power seat ECU's initialization is completed.

HINT:
- In the case that the seat's operational area is still restricted after the cancellation, the motor is malfunctioning.
- In the case that the seat's operational area is not restricted any more after the cancellation, the seat adjuster assembly (pulse sensor) is malfunctioning.

NOTICE: After the cancellation, slide the seat to the rear or recline the seatback to the rear. A buzzer sounds continuously in intervals of 0.45 seconds. If the initialization is performed again, a buzzer does not sound any more.
