Spoiler: Service and Repair
REPLACEMENTHINT:
- The installation procedures are the removal procedures in reverse order. However, only installation procedures requiring additional information are included.
- A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.
- When replacing the spoiler, heat the body and spoiler using a heat light.
NOTE: Do not heat the body and moulding excessively.
1. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR COVER
2. REMOVE REAR SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 2 nuts.
b. Apply protective tape around the spoiler.
c. Heat the spoiler.
d. Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to the ends of a piano wire.
e. Remove the 3 pins, 2 clips and spoiler.
1. Pull the piano wire under the spoiler to cut through the adhesive.
2. Cut through the adhesive until a pin or clip obstructs the wire. Remove the pin or clip and then continue cutting through the adhesive until the spoiler is fully removed.
NOTE:
- If planning to reuse the spoiler, take care not to damage it.
- Do not damage the body.
3. INSTALL REAR SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Heat the vehicle body mounting surface.
b. Remove the protective tape from the vehicle body.
c. Wipe off the stains with cleaner.
d. When reusing spoiler: Clean the spoiler by removing any double-sided tape and wiping off any stains with cleaner.
e. Apply new double-sided tape on the spoiler as shown in the illustration.
1. Heat the vehicle body and spoiler.
f. Install the spoiler with 3 pins and 2 clips.
g. Install the 2 nuts.
