Trunk / Liftgate: Adjustments

ADJUSTMENT






HINT:
- Centering bolts are used to mount the door hinge to the vehicle body and door. The door cannot be adjusted with the centering bolts on. Substitute the centering bolts with standard bolts (w/ washers) when making adjustments.
- A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.







1. INSPECT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR
a. Check that the clearance measurements of areas A to F are within the standard range.

2. ADJUST LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR

NOTE:
- To prevent damage to the link, do not directly adjust the luggage link.
- Adjust the luggage link with a striker or change the number of shims.




a. Vertically adjust the door position (rear side).
1. Loosen the 2 bolts of the luggage compartment door striker.
2. Using a shim, adjust the door vertically.

3. Tighten the door striker bolts after adjustment.

Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

Shim thickness:
0.5 mm (0.020 in.)
1.0 mm (0.039 in.)

HINT: The standard thickness is 2.5 mm (0.098 in.) with 3 shims.




b. Adjust the door (forward/rearward and left/right).
1. Using a standard bolt (service part) instead of a centering bolt (original part), adjust the door's forward/rearward and left/right position.
2. Tighten the door bolts after the adjustment.

Torque: 22 N.m (224 kgf.cm, 16 ft.lbf)




c. Vertically adjust the door position (whole) for the front and rear sides at the same time.
1. Loosen the 3 nuts and 4 bolts labeled A.
2. Loosen the 2 bolts labeled B.
3. Perform the adjustment by changing the number of shims as necessary.
4. Tighten the door hinge bolts and nuts after the adjustment.

Torque:
22 N.m (224 kgf.cm, 16 ft.lbf) for nut
5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf) for bolt A
6.9 N.m (70 kgf.cm, 61 in.lbf) for bolt B

HINT: The standard thickness is 2.0 mm (0.078 in.) with 2 shims.

Shim thickness:
0.5 mm (0.020 in.)
1.0 mm (0.039 in.)




d. Adjust the door (rear end left/right).
1. Using a hammer and brass bar, adjust the door rear ends left/right position.

HINT: The luggage compartment door forward/rearward position cannot be adjusted with the door lock striker key.

NOTE:
- Do not strike the resin protector directly.
- When removing the resin protector, do not reuse it as the protector may be damaged.
