Radiator Cooling Fan: Service and Repair
OVERHAUL
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent vent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER
3. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
4. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET NO.1
5. REMOVE RADIATOR RESERVE TANK ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE
7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY
8. DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE NO.1
9. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM ECU OUTLET DUCT
10. REMOVE FAN ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the 3 clamps and wire harness from the fan.
b. Disconnect the 2 connectors.
c. Remove the 6 bolts and fan.
11. REMOVE COOLING FAN ECU
a. Disconnect the 2 connectors.
b. Remove the 2 screws and ECU.
12. REMOVE FAN
a. Remove the nut and fan.
13. REMOVE NO.2 FAN
a. Remove the nut and fan.
14. REMOVE COOLING FAN MOTOR
a. Disconnect the 2 wires from the fan shroud.
b. Remove the 3 screws and cooling fan motor.
15. REMOVE COOLING FAN MOTOR NO.2
a. Remove the 3 screws and cooling fan motor.
16. INSTALL COOLING FAN MOTOR NO.2
a. Install the fan motor with the 3 screws.
17. INSTALL COOLING FAN MOTOR
a. Install the fan motor with the 3 screws.
18. INSTALL NO.2 FAN
a. Install the fan with the nut.
Torque: 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.)
19. INSTALL NO.2 FAN
a. Install the fan with the nut.
Torque: 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.)
20. INSTALL COOLING FAN ECU
a. Install the ECU with the 2 screws.
b. Connect the 2 connectors.
21. INSTALL FAN ASSEMBLY
a. Install the fan with the 6 bolts.
Torque: 5.0 Nm (51 kgf-cm, 44 inch lbs.)
b. Connect the 3 clamps and wire harness to the fan.
c. Connect the 2 connectors.
22. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM ECU OUTLET DUCT
23. CONNECT RADIATOR HOSE NO.1
24. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY
25. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE
26. INSTALL RADIATOR RESERVE TANK ASSEMBLY
27. ADD ENGINE COOLANT
28. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS
29. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER
30. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
31. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
NOTICE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
