Component Inspection
INSPECTION1. INSPECT COOLER (ROOM TEMP. SENSOR) THERMISTOR
a. Measure the resistance of the thermistor.
If the result is not as specified, replace the thermistor.
HINT: As the temperature increases, the resistance decreases.
2. INSPECT COOLER (AMBIENT TEMP. SENSOR) THERMISTOR
a. Measure the resistance of the thermistor.
If the result is not as specified, replace the thermistor.
HINT: As the temperature increases, the resistance decreases.
3. INSPECT COOLER THERMISTOR NO. 1 (COOLER THERMISTOR A/C THERMISTOR)
a. Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 of the thermistor at each temperature, as shown in the chart.
If the result is not as specified, replace the thermistor.
4. INSPECT COOLER (SENSOR THERMISTOR SMOG VENTILATION)
a. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to the terminal 4 (IG) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1 (GND).
b. Apply battery voltage between terminals 1 and 4 for more than 30 seconds.
c. Measure the resistance of the cooler.
If the result is not as specified, replace the cooler.
HINT: When the sensor is exposed to the exhaust gas, the resistance goes down.
5. INSPECT MAGNET CLUTCH ASSEMBLY (LOCK SENSOR)
a. Measure the resistance of the clutch.
If the result is not as specified, replace the clutch assembly.
b. Apply battery voltage to the clutch and check operation of the clutch.
If the result is not as specified, replace the clutch assembly.
6. INSPECT AIR MIX DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY (DRIVER SIDE)
a. Measure the resistance of damper servo.
If the result is not as specified, replace the damper servo sub- assembly.
HINT:
- Refer DTC B1441 For operation procedures for the air mix damper servo.
- As the air mix damper servo moves from the cool side to warm side, the resistance decreases gradually without interruption.
b. Apply battery voltage to the servo and check that the servo rotates smoothly.
If the result is not as specified, replace the damper servo sub- assembly.
7. INSPECT AIR MIX DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY (PASSENGER SIDE)
If the result is not as specified, replace the damper servo sub-assembly.
8. INSPECT RECIRCULATION DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Measure the resistance of the damper servo.
If the result is not as specified, replace the damper servo sub-assembly.
HINT:
- Refer DTC B1442 For operation procedures for the air mix damper servo.
- As the recirculation damper servo moves from recirculation to fresh, the resistance decreases gradually without interruption.
b. Apply battery voltage to the servo and check that the servo rotates smoothly.
If the result is not as specified, replace the damper servo sub-assembly.
9. INSPECT MODE DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Measure the resistance of the damper servo.
If the result is not as specified, replace the damper servo sub-assembly.
HINT:
- Refer DTC B1432 For operation procedures for the air mix damper servo.
- As the damper servo moves from the FACE side to DEF side, the resistance decreases gradually without interruption.
b. Apply battery voltage to the servo and check that the servo rotates smoothly.
If the result is not as specified, replace the damper servo sub- assembly.
10. INSPECT DAMPER SERVO SUB-ASSEMBLY (LAP-JET)
a. Apply battery voltage to the servo and check that the servo rotates smoothly.
If the result is not as specified, replace the damper servo sub-assembly.
11. INSPECT BLOWER W/ FAN MOTOR SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Apply battery voltage to the motor and check that the motor rotates smoothly.
If the result is not as specified, replace the motor sub-assembly.
12. INSPECT RELAY (Marking: IG1, HTR)
a. Measure the resistance of the relay.
If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.
13. INSPECT RELAY (Marking: ACC, AC/COMP)
a. Measure the resistance of the relay.
If the result is not as specified, replace the relay.
