Steering: Service Precautions
PRECAUTION1. HANDLING PRECAUTIONS FOR STEERING SYSTEM
a. Care must be taken when replacing parts. Incorrect replacement could affect the performance of the steering system and result in hazardous driving.
2. HANDLING PRECAUTIONS FOR SRS AIRBAG SYSTEM
a. The LEXUS SC 430 is equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), which consists of a driver airbag, front passenger airbag and side airbag. Failure to carry out service procedures in the correct sequence could cause the SRS to unexpectedly deploy and lead to a serious accident. Furthermore, if a mistake is made when servicing the SRS, it may fail to operate when required.
Before performing servicing (including installation/removal, inspection and replacement of parts), be sure to read the SRS PRECAUTION.
NOTICE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
