Differential Oil Service
ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION1. CHECK DIFFERENTIAL OIL
a. Stop the vehicle on a level surface.
b. Using a 10 mm hexagon wrench, remove the filler plug and gasket.
c. Check that the oil level is less than 5 mm (0.20 inch) from the bottom lip of the filler plug hole.
NOTICE:
^ After changing the oil, drive the vehicle and check the oil level again.
^ Too much or too little oil will lead to transmission problems.
d. Check for oil leakage when the oil level is low.
e. Using a 10 mm hexagon wrench, install the filler plug with a new gasket.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)
2. ADD DIFFERENTIAL OIL
a. Using a 10 mm hexagon wrench, remove the filler plug and gasket.
b. Add oil.
Oil type: Differential synthetic gear oil GL-5 75W-90 or equivalent
Capacity: 1.30 to 1.40 liters (1.37 to 1.48 US qts, 1.14 to 1.23 Imp. qts)
c. Check the oil level.
d. Using a 10 mm hexagon wrench, install the filler plug with a new gasket.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)
NOTICE: After replacing the oil, drive the vehicle. Then recheck the oil level.
