Engine Control Module: Service and Repair
ECM:
REMOVAL
1. DISCONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
2. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
5. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER CENTER BRACE
6. REMOVE ECM
a. Remove the 3 nuts.
b. Disconnect the 2 ECM connectors and remove the ECM.
1. Raise the 2 levers while pushing the locks on the 2 levers, and disconnect the 2 ECM connectors.
NOTE: After disconnecting the connector, make sure that dirt, water and other foreign matter do not contact the connecting part of the connector.
2. Remove the ECM.
c. Remove the 4 screws and 2 ECM brackets.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL ECM
a. Install the ECM bracket with the 4 screws.
Torque: 3.0 N.m (31 kgf.cm, 27 in.lbf)
b. Connect the 2 ECM connectors.
NOTE: When connecting the connector, make sure that dirt, water and other foreign matter do not become stuck between the connector and other parts.
1. Connect the 2 ECM connectors and lower the 2 levers.
NOTE: Make sure that the 2 levers are securely lowered.
c. Install the ECM with the 3 nuts.
Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)
2. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION UPPER CENTER BRACE
3. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
4. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH
5. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
7. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization procedure.
NOTE: Some vehicle systems require initialization after reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.
