Brake Light Switch: Service and Repair
STOP LIGHT SWITCHCOMPONENTS:
REMOVAL
1. PRECAUTION
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE OUTSIDE LH
4. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH
5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
7. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUBASSEMBLY
8. REMOVE FRONT DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
9. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
10. REMOVE COMBINATION METER
11. REMOVE STOP LIGHT SWITCH
(a) Disconnect the stop light switch connector from the stop light switch.
(b) Turn the stop light switch counterclockwise and remove the stop light switch.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL STOP LIGHT SWITCH
(a) Insert the stop light switch until the body hits the cushion.
NOTICE: When inserting the stop light switch, support the pedal from behind so that the pedal is not pushed in.
(b) Make a quarter turn clockwise to install the stop light switch.
Torque: 1.5 N*m (15 kgf*cm, 13 in.*lbf) or less
NOTICE: When inserting the stop light switch, support the pedal from behind so that the pedal is not pushed in.
(c) Connect the stop light switch connector to the stop light switch.
(d) Check the protrusion of the rod.
2. INSTALL COMBINATION METER
3. INSTALL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
4. INSTALL FRONT DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
5. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUBASSEMBLY
6. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
7. INSTALL INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH
8. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
9. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE OUTSIDE LH
10. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
11. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
12. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
Some systems need initialization after reconnecting the negative battery terminal.
