CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION: Be sure to read "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.

3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
5. REMOVE SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL LH
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
7. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUBASSEMBLY
8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH
9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH
11. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
12. REMOVE SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL RH
13. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
14. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL RH
15. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY
16. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL ASSEMBLY WITH FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE
17. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX POCKET
18. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET
19. REMOVE CONSOLE REAR END PANEL SUBASSEMBLY
20. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
21. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET BRACKET LH
22. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET BRACKET RH
23. REMOVE NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX DUCT
24. REMOVE NO. 3 CONSOLE BOX DUCT
25. REMOVE NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX DUCT
26. REMOVE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

a. Turn back the carpet.

b. Disconnect the holder (with connectors).
c. Remove the 3 bolts and center airbag sensor assembly.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

a. Check that the engine switch is off.
b. Check that the battery negative (-) cable is disconnected.

CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.

c. Install the center airbag sensor assembly with the 3 bolts.

Torque: 18 N.m (184 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)

NOTE:
- If the center airbag sensor assembly has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace it with a new one.
- When installing the center airbag sensor assembly, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.

d. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the center airbag sensor assembly.
e. Connect the holder (with connectors).
f. Check that the water-proof sheet is properly set.

7. INSTALL REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
8. INSTALL CONSOLE REAR END PANEL SUBASSEMBLY
9. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX CARPET
10. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX POCKET
11. INSTALL UPPER CONSOLE PANEL ASSEMBLY WITH FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE
12. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY
13. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL RH
14. INSTALL FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
15. INSTALL SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL RH
16. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
17. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH
18. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
19. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH
20. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUBASSEMBLY
21. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
22. INSTALL SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL LH
23. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH
24. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
25. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

26. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

HINT: Some systems need initialization after reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.

27. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Inspect the SRS warning light.
