Rear Airbag Sensor

REAR AIRBAG SENSOR

REMOVAL

HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed are for the LH side.

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION: Be sure to read "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.

3. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY (W/ Rear Seat Side Airbag)
4. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY (W/ Rear Seat Side Airbag)
5. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE (W/o Rear Seat Side Airbag)
6. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE (W/ Rear Seat Side Airbag)
7. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH (W/o Rear Seat Side Airbag)
8. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (W/ Rear Seat Side Airbag)
9. REMOVE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR




a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the bolt and rear airbag sensor.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL REAR AIRBAG SENSOR

a. Check that the engine switch is off.
b. Check that the battery negative (-) cable is disconnected.

CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.




c. Install the rear airbag sensor with the bolt.

Torque: 9.0 N.m (92 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf)

NOTE:
- If the rear airbag sensor has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace it with a new one.
- When installing the rear airbag sensor, be careful that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and that it is not pinched between other parts.

d. Check that there is no looseness in the installation parts of the rear airbag sensor.
e. Connect the connector.

2. INSTALL REAR SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (W/ Rear Seat Side Airbag)
3. INSTALL REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH (W/o Rear Seat Side Airbag)
4. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE (W/ Rear Seat Side Airbag)
5. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE (W/o Rear Seat Side Airbag)
6. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY (W/ Rear Seat Side Airbag)
7. INSTALL REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY (W/ Rear Seat Side Airbag)
8. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

9. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

HINT: Some systems need initialization after reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.

10. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
a. Inspect the SRS warning light.
