Introduction
In vehicles equipped with the Smart Key system, the starting function may not be operational after recharging a discharged battery or jump starting the vehicle. If battery voltage drops below 9V, the Steering Lock ECU may need to be re-initialized. Follow the initialization procedure below to re-initialize the Steering Lock ECU.
Applicable Vehicles
^ 2006 model year GS 300 vehicles.
^ 2006 - 2007 model year GS 430, IS 250, and IS 350 vehicles.
^ 2007 model year ES 350, GS 350, and LS 460 vehicles.
Warranty Information
Initialization Procedure
1. Confirm that the DCC fuse is installed.
NOTE:
If DCC fuse is NOT installed, install at this time.
2. Place the shift lever in the "P" position.
3. Open and close the driver's side door.
NOTE:
This will start an initialization process between the Steering Lock ECU and the Junction Block ECU.
4. Depress the brake pedal.
5. Press the "START STOP" switch.
6. Re-initialize any affected power Systems.
