Applicability

Introduction

Some customers may experience a condition where the dynamic radar cruise control displays "Check PCS" on the multi-information display. Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) B2056 (Axial Gap of Radar Sensor) and P1572 (Improper Aiming of Radar Sensor Beam Axis) may also be stored. An updated distance control computer has been made available to correct this condition.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

^ This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

^ Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.

Repair Procedure

1. Using TIS Techstream, clear all Pre-collision system and cruise control codes.

2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

3. Remove Distance Control ECU.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

^ 2006 Model year GS 300/430, Engine/Hybrid System - Cruise Control - "Cruise Control: Distance Control ECU: Removal".

^ 2007 model year GS 350/430, Engine/Hybrid System - Cruise Control - "Cruise Control: Distance Control ECU: Removal".

^ 2006 Model year IS 250,/350, Engine/Hybrid System - Cruise Control - "Cruise Control: Distance Control ECU: Removal".

^ 2007 Model year IS 250/350, Engine/Hybrid System - Cruise Control - "Cruise Control: Distance Control ECU: Removal".

4. Install the NEW Distance Control ECU.

^ 2006 Model year GS 300/430, Engine/Hybrid System - Cruise Control - "Cruise Control: Distance Control ECU: Installation".

^ 2007 model year GS 350/430, Engine/Hybrid System - Cruise Control - "Cruise Control: Distance Control ECU: Installation".

^ 2006 Model year IS 250/350, Engine/Hybrid System - Cruise Control - "Cruise Control: Distance Control ECU: Installation".

^ 2007 Model year IS 250/350, Engine/Hybrid System - Cruise Control - "Cruise Control: Distance Control ECU: Installation".

5. Reconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

6. Confirm Option Flag is Turned "ON".

A. Make sure light switch is in OFF position.

B. Turn the ignition switch ON.

C. Turn the cruise main switch ON

D. With the brake pedal depressed, set the cruise control main switch to RES/ACC 3 times within 3 seconds. Check that the VSC buzzer sounds at this time.

E. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

F. Turn the ignition switch ON.

G. Connect TIS Techstream to the DLC3.

H. Select Radar Cruise.

I. Go the Data List and confirm that the"L/C Option Flag" says "YES". If "NO" is displayed, complete procedure again.

7. Adjust Radar Cruise (Millimeter Wave) Sensor.

Tips for aiming radar cruise:

^ Perform aiming procedure in an open parking lot

^ If possible, use a parking lot with straight paint stripes

^ Park the car with the front to rear center line of the car on one of the stripes

^ Position the reflector 16.4 feet in front of the sensor.

8. After repair, confirm proper operation of the cruise control functions.

9. Initialize power systems (windows, moonroof, etc.) Refer to appropriate service bulletin.
