FRONT WIPER MOTOR
REMOVAL
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
a. Using a clip remover, remove the 3 clips and side cover.
4. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR TO FRONT SIDE SEAL SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
a. Using a clip remover, detach the 3 claws and remove the side seal.
5. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR TO FRONT SIDE SEAL SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
6. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH
a. Remove the nut, wiper arm and blade.
7. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH
a. Remove the nut, wiper arm and blade.
8. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH
a. Pull the cowl side seal in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration to detach the 2 claws and remove the cowl side seal.
9. REMOVE FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
10. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUBASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 2 clips and detach the 5 claws.
b. Pull the ventilator louver in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration to detach the 10 claws and remove the ventilator louver.
11. REMOVE FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the connector. Then detach the 2 clamps and remove the wire harness from the cowl top panel.
b. Remove the 4 bolts and wiper motor and link.
HINT: The 2 bolts labeled (A) in the illustration cannot be removed from the wiper motor and link because they are integrated into the wiper motor and link.
12. REMOVE FRONT WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
a. Using a screwdriver, disconnect the rod of the wiper link from the wiper motor as shown in the illustration.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
b. Remove the 3 bolts and wiper motor.
HINT: Rotate the crank arm as necessary to remove the bolts.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL FRONT WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
a. Install the wiper motor with the 3 bolts.
Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 47 in.lbf)
b. Apply MP grease to the crank arm pivot of the wiper motor.
c. Install the rod of the wiper link to the crank arm, as shown in the illustration.
2. INSTALL FRONT WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY
a. Install the wiper motor and link assembly with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)
b. Connect the connector. Then attach the 2 clamps to install the wire harness to the cowl top panel.
3. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUBASSEMBLY
a. Push the ventilator louver in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration. Attach the 10 claws to install the ventilator louver.
b. Attach the 5 claws and 2 clips to install the ventilator louver.
4. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH
a. Push the cowl side seal in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration. Attach the 2 claws to install the cowl side seal.
5. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
6. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH
a. Stop the wiper motor at the automatic stop position.
b. Clean the wiper arm serration with a round file or equivalent.
c. Clean the wiper pivot serration with a wire brush.
d. Install the wiper arm and blade with the nut. Make sure that the wiper arm and blade comes to the position shown in the illustration.
Torque: 22 N.m (224 kgf.cm, 16 ft.lbf)
HINT: Hold down the wiper arm hinge with your hand while tightening the nut.
7. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH
a. Stop the wiper motor at the automatic stop position.
b. Clean the wiper arm serration with a round file or equivalent.
c. Clean the wiper pivot serration with a wire brush.
d. Install the wiper arm and blade with the nut. Make sure that the wiper arm and blade comes to the position shown in the illustration.
Torque: 22 N.m (224 kgf.cm, 16 ft.lbf)
HINT: Hold down the wiper arm hinge with your hand while tightening the nut.
e. Operate the front wipers while spraying washer fluid on the windshield glass. Make sure that the front wipers function properly and there is no interference with the vehicle body.
8. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
a. Install the side cover with the 3 clips.
9. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR TO FRONT SIDE SEAL SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
a. Attach the 3 clips to install the side seal.
10. INSTALL FRONT PILLAR TO FRONT SIDE SEAL SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
11. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
12. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
13. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.
NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
