On-Vehicle Inspection

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. CHECK POWER SEAT FUNCTION (for Driver and Front Passenger)
a. Check the basic functions.
1. Operate the power seat switches and check to make sure each seat function works:
- Sliding
- Front vertical
- Lifter
- Reclining
- Lumbar support

2. CHECK POWER SEAT MOTOR ASSEMBLY (SLIDING, FRONT VERTICAL, LIFTER AND RECLINING FUNCTIONS) (for Driver and Front Passenger)
a. Check the PTC operation inside the power seat motor.

HINT: The PTC thermistor's resistance increases when the power seat switch is held down even after the power seat has been moved to the maximum in one direction. If the resistance increases beyond a specified level, current is cut to prevent a short circuit.

NOTICE:
- The inspection should be performed with the seat installed in the vehicle.
- Perform the 4 steps below for the full range of motion for each power seat function.

1. Choose a power seat function. Operate the power seat switch and move the seat as much as possible in one direction. Keep the seat in that position for approximately 60 seconds.
2. Operate the power seat switch again and continue to try to move the seat in the same direction as in the previous step. Measure the amount of time elapsed before current is automatically cut (the sound of the motor has stopped).

Standard: 4 to 90 seconds

3. After current has been cut, release the power seat switch and wait for approximately 60 seconds.
4. Operate the same power seat switch and move the seat in the opposite direction. Check that the motor operates.

3. CHECK LUMBAR SUPPORT ADJUSTER ASSEMBLY
a. Check the PTC operation inside the power seat motor.

NOTICE: The inspection should be performed with the seat installed in the vehicle.

1. Operate the lumbar support switch and move the lumbar support to either the foremost or rearmost position. Keep the seat in that position for approximately 60 seconds.
2. Operate the lumbar support switch again and continue to try to move the lumbar support in the same direction as in the previous step. Measure the amount of time elapsed before current is automatically cut (the sound of the motor has stopped).

Standard: 4 to 90 seconds

3. After current has been cut, release the lumbar support switch and wait for approximately 60 seconds.
4. Operate the lumbar support switch and move the seat in the opposite direction. Check that the motor operates.

4. CHECK MEMORY AND SEAT RESTORING OPERATION (for Driver and Front Passenger)
a. Turn the power switch ON (IG) and move the shift lever to P.
b. Move the seat to the maximum front and upper positions via the seat switch.
c. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds and the seat position is memorized when the M1 switch and SET switch are pressed and held.
d. Move the seat out of the maximum front and upper positions via the seat switch.
e. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds and the seat position is memorized when the M2 switch and SET switch are pressed and held.
f. Move the seat to the maximum rear and down positions via the seat switch.
g. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.5 seconds and the seat position is memorized when the M3 switch and SET switch are pressed and held.
h. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the seat automatically moves out of the maximum front and upper positions (memorized positions) when the M1 switch of the memory switch is pressed.
i. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the seat automatically moves into the maximum front and upper positions (memorized positions) when the M2 switch of the memory switch is pressed.
j. Check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the seat automatically moves into the maximum rear and down positions (memorized positions) when the M3 switch of the memory switch is pressed.
k. After the power switch is turned OFF and the driver side door is opened, check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the seat automatically moves into the memorized position when the M1, M2 or M3 switch is pressed within 30 seconds.
l. When the power switch is turned ON (IG) and the shift lever is moved to P, check that the buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds and the seat automatically moves into the memorized position when the M1, M2 or M3 switch is pressed.
m. Check that the following procedures erase the recorded seat positions of switches M1, M2 and M3: fully slide the seat forward or rearward; hold M1, M2 or M3; disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal; and wait for 3 minutes.

HINT: The seat position will not be recorded if the SET switch and 2 or more of the memory switches (for example, M1 and M2) are pressed simultaneously.

5. CHECK MEMORY CALL FUNCTION (for Driver Side)
a. Automatic memory call function check (automatic wireless memory call function)
1. With a transmitter key recognition code recorded:
Perform a wireless door unlock operation and check that opening the driver side door causes the following: 1) buzzer sounds for 0.1 seconds, and 2) front seat and tilt and telescopic automatically move to a recorded position.

HINT: The registered transmitter key recognition code is recalled automatically.

b. Memory registration (transmitter key recognition code registration)
1. With the power switch OFF and the driver side door closed, press and hold the M1, M2 or M3 switch. The position control ECU and switch will enter transmitter key recognition code registration mode.

HINT: If the memory switch is released before entering registration mode, the memory switch will not enter registration mode.

2. When the transmitter's LOCK or UNLOCK switch is pressed, check that the buzzer of the position control ECU and switch sounds once (0.5 seconds).

c. Memory deletion (transmitter key recognition code memory deletion)
1. With the power switch OFF and the driver side door closed, press and hold the M1, M2 or M3 switch. The position control ECU and switch will enter transmitter key recognition code deletion mode.

HINT: If the memory switch is released before entering deletion mode, the memory switch will not enter deletion mode.

2. When the transmitter's LOCK or UNLOCK switch is pressed, check that the buzzer of the position control ECU and switch sounds twice (0.1 seconds each time).

6. MEMORY CALL EMERGENCY STOP FUNCTION (for Driver Side)
a. While a memory call function is operating, check that performing one of the following will stop the memory call operation: 1) press the SET, M1, M2 or M3 switch, or 2) press the position control ECU and switch.
