REAR BRAKE

REMOVAL

HINT:
^ Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
^ The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

CAUTION: When the brake caliper is removed from the brake disc, do not start the hybrid system. If the hybrid system is started, the brake fluid pressure may increase.

1. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
2. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

NOTICE: Wash brake fluid off immediately if it adheres to any painted surface.





3. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD KIT
(a) Remove the pin hold clip and disengage the engaged parts of anti-squeal spring.
(b) Remove the 2 pad guide pins and anti-squeal spring.
(c) Remove the 2 brake pads with the anti-squeal shims.

4. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT
(a) Remove the 2 anti-squeal shims from each pad.





5. DISCONNECT REAR BRAKE FLEXIBLE HOSE
(a) Remove the union bolt and gasket from the disc brake caliper, and then disconnect the flexible hose.





6. REMOVE REAR DISK BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN
(a) Remove the cylinder slide pin, and then tilt the disc brake caliper toward the rear of the vehicle.





7. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and disc brake caliper together with the caliper support bracket.
(b) Remove the 2 No. 1 caliper plates from the caliper support bracket.

INSTALLATION

HINT:
^ Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
^ The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

CAUTION: When the brake caliper is removed from the brake disc, do not start the hybrid system. If the hybrid system is started, the brake fluid pressure may increase.

1. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Install 2 new No. 1 caliper plates to the caliper support bracket.





(b) Install the disc brake caliper together with the caliper support bracket with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 54 N*m (551 kgf*cm, 40 ft.*lbf)





2. INSTALL REAR DISK BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN
(a) Install the disc brake caliper with the cylinder slide pin.
Torque: 25 N*m (250 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf)





3. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-SQUEAL SHIM KIT
(a) Apply disc brake grease to both sides of the 2 No. 1 anti-squeal shims.
(b) Install the 4 anti-squeal shims to each of the 2 brake pads.

NOTICE:
^ When replacing worn pads, the anti-squeal shims must be replaced together with the pads.
^ Install the anti-squeal shims in the correct positions and directions.

4. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE PAD KIT
(a) Install the 2 brake pads to the disc brake caliper.





(b) Install the 2 pad guide pins, anti-squeal spring and pin hold clip as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE: Make sure that the engaged parts of the anti-squeal spring are installed correctly.





5. CONNECT REAR BRAKE FLEXIBLE HOSE
(a) Connect the flexible hose with the union bolt and a new gasket.
Torque: 30 N*m (306 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf)

NOTICE: Install the flexible hose lock securely in the lock hole in the disc brake caliper.

6. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL
7. FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID
8. BLEED AIR FROM REAR BRAKE SYSTEM
9. CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR
10. CHECK AND CLEAR DTC
(a) Check and clear the DTC.

11. CHECK FOR BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE
12. INSTALL REAR WHEEL
Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf)
