Removal and Installation

REMOVAL

NOTE: When removing and installing the ECM and hybrid vehicle control ECU, be sure to distinguish the wire harnesses of the ECM and hybrid vehicle control ECU. If the wire harnesses are incorrectly connected, damage may occur to the engine.

1. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT
2. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH
3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

4. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
5. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
6. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM NO. 1 RELAY BLOCK COVER
7. REMOVE RADIATOR RESERVE TANK ASSEMBLY

a. Disconnect the inverter drain hose from the clamp.
b. Remove the 2 bolts and radiator reserve tank assembly.

8. REMOVE ECM BRACKET

a. Disconnect the wire harness clamp from the wire harness.
b. Disconnect the 3 wire harness clamps from the ECM bracket.

c. Remove the 6 bolts, nut and ECM bracket.

9. REMOVE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU

a. Raise the lock lever and disconnect the 2 connectors. Remove the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

NOTE: Make sure that the lock lever is raised 90° as shown in the illustration before disconnecting the connectors. Failure to do this may cause the connectors to break.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU

a. Connect the 2 connectors to the hybrid vehicle control ECU and push each lock lever down to lock the connectors.

NOTE:
- Make sure that the lock lever is raised 90° before connecting the connectors. Failure to do this may cause the lock lever and terminals to break.
- Do not twist the wire harness when connecting the connector.

2. CONNECT ECM BRACKET

a. Set the ECM bracket to the hybrid vehicle control ECU and ECM.
b. Install the hybrid vehicle control ECU with the 2 bolts (A).

Torque: 3.0 N.m (31 kgf.cm, 27 in.lbf)

c. Install the ECM bracket with the 4 bolts (B) and nut.

Torque:
Bolt 3.0 N.m (31 kgf.cm, 27 in.lbf)
Nut 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in.lbf)

d. Connect the 3 wire harness clamps to the ECM bracket.
e. Connect the wire harness clamp to the wire harness.

3. INSTALL RADIATOR RESERVE TANK ASSEMBLY

a. Install the radiator reserve tank assembly with the 2 bolts.

Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)

b. Connect the inverter drain hose to the clamp.

4. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM NO. 1 RELAY BLOCK COVER
5. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
6. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
8. PERFORM REGISTRATION
a. If the hybrid control ECU is replaced, initialize the dynamic radar cruise control system.

9. RESET MEMORY
a. If the hybrid vehicle control ECU is replaced, initialize the learning value of the automatic transmission.

10. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization procedure.

NOTE: Some vehicle systems require initialization after reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.
