REMOVAL

CAUTION: When removing and installing the ECM and hybrid vehicle control ECU, be sure to distinguish the wire harnesses of the ECM and hybrid vehicle control ECU. If the wire harnesses are incorrectly connected, damage may occur to the engine.

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH
4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM NO. 1 RELAY BLOCK COVER
5. REMOVE RADIATOR RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY

a. Disconnect the inverter drain hose from the bracket.
b. Remove the 2 bolts and radiator reservoir.

6. REMOVE HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU

a. Detach the side of the wire harness clamp labeled A from the wire harness.
b. Detach the 3 wire harness clamps.

c. Remove the nut, 4 screws and bracket.
d. Remove the 2 screws and ECU.

e. Raise the lock lever and disconnect the 2 connectors. Remove the hybrid vehicle control ECU.

NOTE: Make sure that the lock lever is raised 90 as shown in the illustration before disconnecting the connectors. Failure to do this may cause the connectors to break.

7. REMOVE ECM

a. Remove the 2 nuts and ECM with bracket.

b. Disconnect the 2 ECM connectors.
1. Raise the 2 levers while pushing the locks on the 2 levers, and remove the 2 ECM connectors.

c. Remove the 2 screws and ECM lower bracket.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL ECM

a. Install the ECM to the ECM lower bracket with the 2 screws.

Torque: 3.0 N.m (30 kgf.cm, 27 in.lbf)

b. Connect the 2 ECM connectors.
1. Connect the 2 connectors to the ECM and lower the 2 levers.

NOTE: Make sure that the 2 levers are securely lowered.
