Front Speed Sensor
REMOVALHINT:
- Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
CAUTION: When the brake caliper is removed from the brake disc, do not start the hybrid system. If the hybrid system is started, the brake fluid pressure may increase.
1. TURN POWER SWITCH OFF
a. Turn the power switch OFF, and check that the "READY- indicator turns off.
2. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL
3. DISCONNECT CONNECTOR
a. Disconnect the connector from the front speed sensor LH.
NOTE:
- Be careful not to damage the speed sensor.
- Prevent foreign matter from adhering to the speed sensor.
4. DISCONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH
5. REMOVE FRONT DISC
6. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
7. REMOVE FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH
a. Install the 3 hub bolts. Placing an aluminum plate below the hub and bearing, hold them in a vise.
NOTE: Replace the hub and bearing if it is dropped or receives a strong shock.
b. Using a pin punch (3 mm) or hammer, remove the 2 pins from the SST (09520-00031) and separate the attachment (09521-00010).
SST 09520-00031
c. Using SST and 2 bolts (90101-12007), remove the sensor from the hub and bearing.
SST 09520-00031 (09520-00040), 09521-00020, 09950-00020
NOTE:
- Keep the sensor away from magnets.
- Pull the sensor off straight, taking care not to make contact with the sensor rotor.
- If the sensor rotor is damaged or deformed, replace the hub and bearing assembly.
- Do not scratch the area where the sensor contacts the hub and bearing.
- Do not attach foreign matter to the sensor rotor.
INSTALLATION
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
CAUTION: When the brake caliper is removed from the brake disc, do not start the hybrid system. If the hybrid system is started, the brake fluid pressure may increase.
1. INSTALL FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH
a. Wipe off sealant attached to the sensor's fitting surface with non-residue solvent.
NOTE: Prevent foreign matter from attaching to the sensor rotor.
b. Install a new sensor to the hub and bearing. The sensor connector should be placed in the upper position.
c. Using SST and a press, press in the speed sensor to the hub and bearing.
NOTE:
- Keep the sensor away from magnets.
- Do not use a hammer on the sensor.
- Check that there is no foreign matter such as iron chips on the sensor's detecting portion.
- Slowly press the sensor straight.
2. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
3. CHECK FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING LOOSENESS
4. CHECK FRONT AXLE HUB RUNOUT
5. INSTALL FRONT DISC
6. CONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH
7. CONNECT CONNECTOR
a. Connect the sensor connector to the front speed sensor.
NOTE: Do not twist the sensor wire.
8. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
Torque: 103 N.m (1,050 kgf.cm, 76 ft.lbf)
9. CHECK SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
a. Check the speed sensor signal.
