Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
3. REMOVE SERVICE PLUG GRIP
4. REMOVE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the fuel tank from the vehicle.
5. REMOVE NO. 3 FUEL TANK PROTECTOR
a. Release the lock and then turn the protector and remove it.
6. REMOVE FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR
a. Disconnect the pressure sensor connector.
b. Remove the joint clip and pressure sensor.
CAUTION:
- Before removing the tube joint clip, check for foreign matter around the clip. Clean if necessary.
- Keep the O-ring free of foreign matter, as it becomes contaminated easily.
- Do not use any tools in this procedure.
- Be careful not to damage the clip. If the clip is damaged, replace it.
7. REMOVE FUEL TANK VENT TUBE SET PLATE
a. Remove the 4 screws, vent tube set plate, support plate and gasket.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL FUEL TANK VENT TUBE SET PLATE
a. Install a new gasket, support plate and set plate with the 4 screws.
2. INSTALL FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR
a. Install the sensor to the support plate.
CAUTION: Check that there are no scratches or foreign objects on the connecting parts.
b. Fix the sensor in place with the joint clip with the joint clip.
CAUTION:
- Check that the joint clip is inserted securely.
- After installing the joint clip, check that the sensor has not been pulled off.
- Be careful not to damage the clip. If the clip is damaged, replace it.
c. Connect the sensor connector.
3. INSTALL NO. 3 FUEL TANK PROTECTOR
a. Install the protector.
1. Set the protector onto the vent tube set plate.
2. Turn the protector and install it securely.
4. INSTALL FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY
a. Install the fuel tank.
5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
6. INSTALL SERVICE PLUG GRIP
7. CHECK FOR FUEL LEAK
