REMOVAL
1. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT
2. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH
3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
4. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB
5. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH
6. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL ASSEMBLY
7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH
8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
9. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX PLATE
10. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY
11. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
12. REMOVE NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX DUCT
13. REMOVE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR
(a) Remove the heated oxygen sensor.
14. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR BRACE CENTER
15. REMOVE REAR FLOOR NO. 1 PANEL BRACE
16. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
17. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER RH
(a) Remove the 3 grommets, and front floor cover center RH.
18. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR NO. 1 HEAT INSULATOR
19. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY
20. REMOVE TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY
21. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH
(a) Remove the shift lock control ECU connector from the floor shift assembly.
(b) Remove the shift lever nut and lock pin from the floor shift assembly.
(c) Remove the shift lever guide housing from the floor shift assembly.
NOTICE:
First remove the shift lever nut and lock pin, then disengage the 2 claws.
(d) Remove the transmission control switch from the shift lever guide housing.
INSPECTION
1. INSPECT TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH
(a) Connect the shift lever position switch connector.
(b) Disconnect the transmission control switch connector of the shift lock control unit assembly.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table.
Standard Resistance:
If the resistance value is not as specified, replace the transmission control switch.
INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL SWITCH
(a) Install the transmission control switch to the shift lever guide housing.
HINT:
Securely engage the claws.
(b) Apply MP grease to the shaded area of the shift lever guide housing as indicated in the illustration.
(c) Install the shift lever guide housing with the shift lever lock pin and a new shift lever nut.
NOTICE:
^ Install the shift lever nut and lock pin after first engaging the 2 claws.
^ Securely engage the claws.
(d) Connect the transmission control switch connector to the floor shift assembly.
2. INSTALL TRANSMISSION FLOOR SHIFT ASSEMBLY
3. INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY
4. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR NO. 1 HEAT INSULATOR
5. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER RH
(a) Install the front floor cover center RH with the 3 grommets.
Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf)
6. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
7. INSTALL REAR FLOOR NO. 1 PANEL BRACE
8. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR BRACE CENTER
9. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR
(a) Install the heated oxygen sensor.
10. INSTALL NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX DUCT
11. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
12. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY
13. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX PLATE
14. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
15. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH
16. INSTALL UPPER CONSOLE PANEL ASSEMBLY
17. INSTALL FRONT CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH
18. INSTALL SHIFT LEVER KNOB
19. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
20. INSTALL BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH
21. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT
22. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION
23. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION
24. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER OPERATION
25. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAKS
26. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
(a) Perform initialization.
NOTICE:
Certain systems need to be initialized after reconnecting the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
