Radiator Cooling Fan: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER
3. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
4. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET
5. REMOVE RADIATOR RESERVE TANK ASSEMBLY
(a) Squeeze the clip and remove the reserve tank inlet hose from the radiator assembly.
(b) Remove the 2 bolts and reserve tank.

6. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE
7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY
8. DISCONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE

9. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM ECU OUTLET DUCT
(a) Remove the outlet duct.

10. REMOVE FAN SHROUD SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the 3 clamps and wire harness from the fan shroud.
(b) Disconnect the 2 connectors.

11. REMOVE COOLING FAN ECU
(a) Disconnect the 2 connectors.
(b) Remove the 2 screws and ECU.

12. REMOVE FAN
(a) Remove the 2 nuts and fan.

13. REMOVE COOLING FAN MOTOR
(a) Disconnect the 2 wires from the fan shroud.
(b) Remove the 3 screws and fan motor.

14. REMOVE NO. 2 COOLING FAN MOTOR
(a) Remove the 3 screws and fan motor.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL COOLING FAN MOTOR
(a) Install the fan motor with the 3 screws.
Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)

2. INSTALL NO. 2 COOLING FAN MOTOR
(a) Install the fan motor with the 3 screws.
Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)
(b) Connect the 2 wires to the fan shroud.

3. INSTALL FAN
(a) Install the 2 fans with the 2 nuts.
Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)

4. INSTALL COOLING FAN ECU
(a) Install the ECU with the 2 screws.
(b) Connect the 2 connectors.

5. INSTALL FAN SHROUD SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the fan shroud with the 6 bolts.
Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf)

(b) Connect the 3 clamps and wire harness to the fan shroud.
(c) Connect the 2 connectors.

6. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM ECU OUTLET DUCT
(a) Install the outlet duct.

7. CONNECT NO. 1 RADIATOR HOSE
8. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY
9. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE
10. INSTALL RADIATOR RESERVE TANK ASSEMBLY
(a) Install the reserve tank with the 2 bolts.
(b) Squeeze the clip and install the reserve tank inlet hose to the radiator assembly.

11. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET
12. ADD ENGINE COOLANT
13. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS
14. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER
15. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
16. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
(a) Perform initialization.

NOTICE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
