Wiper Motor: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY

a. Check operation.







1. Apply battery voltage to the wiper motor connector and check operation of the wiper motor.

If the result is not as specified, replace the motor assembly.

b. Check automatic stop operation.




1. Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 5 (+1) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 4 (E), operate the motor at low speed and stop the motor operation anywhere except at the stop position by disconnecting the positive (+) lead.
2. Using a service wire, connect terminals 5 (+1) and 1 (S).
3. Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 2 (B). Check that the motor operates again and stops at the stop position.

If the result is not as specified, replace the motor assembly.
