DTC C1581 - Assist Map Number Un-Writing

DESCRIPTION

The power steering ECU outputs this DTC when it determines that the assist map is not written in the ECU.
HINT: The assist map is data written in the power steering ECU to control the degree of assistance. The assist map is selected based on the vehicle's specified communication data (designation and grade package information).





INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM ASSIST MAP WRITING
(a) Turn the power switch ON (IG), and wait for 30 seconds or more.
HINT: The assist map is automatically written when approximately 30 seconds have elapsed after the power switch is turned ON (IG). DTC C1581 will be cleared after the assist map is written.
(b) Check for DTCs.
OK:
DTC C1581 is not output.
OK -- RETURN TO NORMAL
NG -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
(a) Check for DTCs of the CAN communication system Diagnosis System.
OK:
DTCs are not output.
NG -- REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM
(a) Check for DTCs in the multiplex communication system Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
OK:
DTCs are not output.
NG -- REPAIR CIRCUIT INDICATED BY OUTPUT CODE
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK ECM
(a) Check if a proper ECM is installed.
OK:
A proper ECM is installed.
NOTE: Perform the RESET MEMORY (AT initialization) procedures if replacing the ECM.

NG -- REPLACE ECM
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK NETWORK GATEWAY ECU
(a) Check if a proper network gateway ECU is installed.
OK:
A proper network gateway ECU is installed.
NOTE: If replacing the power steering ECU, initialize the rotation angle sensor and calibrate the torque sensor zero point Electronic Power Steering System.

NG -- REPLACE NETWORK GATEWAY ECU
OK -- REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU
