PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY: DISASSEMBLY
DISASSEMBLY
HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
CAUTION: When the brake caliper is removed from the brake disc, do not start the hybrid system. If the hybrid system is started, the brake fluid pressure may increase.
1. TURN POWER SWITCH OFF
(a) Turn the power switch OFF, and check that the "READY" indicator turns off.
2. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
3. DISCONNECT REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the rear disc brake caliper.
NOTE: Hang the caliper with wire or equivalent.
(b) Remove the No. 1 caliper plate (2 pieces).
4. REMOVE REAR DISC
(a) Release the parking brake.
(b) Put matchmarks on the rear disc and rear axle hub.
(c) Remove the rear disc.
HINT: If the disc cannot be removed easily, turn the shoe adjuster until the wheel turns smoothly.
5. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN SPRING
(a) Using SST, remove the shoe return spring.

6. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN SPRING
(a) Using SST, remove the shoe return spring.
SST: 09703-30011
7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET
(a) Slide the parking brake shoe, and then remove the shoe adjusting screw set.
8. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY
(a) Using SST, remove the spring cup, compression spring and shoe hold down spring pin.

(b) Remove the shoe.
9. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY
(a) Using SST, remove the spring cup, compression spring and shoe hold down spring pin.
SST: 09718-00011
(b) Remove the shoe.
HINT: Use the service hole to retain the shoe hold down spring pin with your finger.
10. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER
11. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE ANCHOR BLOCK
(a) Remove the rear axle hub and bearing Removal.
(b) Remove the 2 nuts and anchor block.
