Continuously Variable Transmission/Transaxle: Service Precautions

PRECAUTION
NOTE: When the negative (-) battery cable is disconnected, initialize the following systems after the cable is reconnected.





NOTE: Perform the Reset Memory when replacing the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly or HV control ECU Programming and Relearning.
HINT: Reset memory cannot be completed by only disconnecting the battery cable.

1. Before removing the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly, remove all dirt or foreign objects on the transmission to prevent entry of them when removing or reinstalling the transmission.
2. Do not allow water or foreign objects to enter the terminal connectors, the terminal on the motor cable and generator cable, or the terminals on the transmission.
3. Keep removed parts in order and protect them from dirt or other foreign objects.
4. Fluid level checks are not necessary during routine servicing of the vehicle. If fluid leaks are present, check fluid level.
5. Use Toyota Genuine ATF WS transmission fluid.
