DTC B2484 - Horn Circuit Transistor

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is output when one of the following occurs: 1) vehicle horn (high pitched or low pitched) is malfunctioning; 2) front controller is malfunctioning; or 3) the wire harness between the front controller and vehicle horn is open or shorted.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK HORN ASSEMBLY (OPERATION)
(a) Check if the horns sound normally.

Result





HINT: If both horns do not sound, there may be a malfunction in the front controller.

B -- REPLACE FRONT CONTROLLER
A -- Continue to next step.
2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER OR TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE HORNS)
(a) Operate the intelligent tester or Techstream according to the steps on the display and select "Active Test".

OK:
Horn operates normally.
NG -- INSPECT HORN ASSEMBLY
OK -- REPLACE FRONT CONTROLLER
3. INSPECT HORN ASSEMBLY





(a) Remove the low pitched horn Removal or high pitched horn Removal.
(b) Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the horn.
OK:






Result





C -- REPLACE LOW PITCHED HORN ASSEMBLY
B -- REPLACE HIGH PITCHED HORN ASSEMBLY
A -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT CONTROLLER - HORN)





(a) Disconnect the B14 front controller connector.
(b) Disconnect the B6 or B10 horn connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:

for high pitched horn





for low pitched horn





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE FRONT CONTROLLER
