DOOR LOCK: WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM: OPERATION CHECK

OPERATION CHECK

1. NOTICES WHEN CHECKING
(a) Wireless door LOCK/UNLOCK function:
The wireless door lock control function operates only when the following 5 conditions are met.
- Power switch OFF.
- All the doors are closed.
HINT: The UNLOCK function operates even when one of the doors is open.
- There is no door control transmitter in the cabin.
- The power door lock system is functioning normally.
- The function is not disabled by customization.

(b) The wireless transmitter operational area differs depending on the situation.
- The operational area differs depending on the user, the way the transmitter is held and the location.
- In certain areas, the operational area will be reduced due to the vehicle body shape and the influence of the surrounding environment.
- The transmitter's faint electric waves may be affected if the area has strong electric waves or noise. The transmitter's operational area may be shortened or the transmitter may not function.
- When the battery weakens, the operational area is reduced or the transmitter may not function.
HINT: The battery may weaken or other problems may occur if one of the following occurs: 1) it has had prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, such as on the instrument panel; or 2) it is placed within 1 m of electrical products, such as TVs, computers, cordless phones, cell phone recharger stands (with the cell phone recharging), etc.).

2. CHECK WIRELESS DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM
HINT:
- The switches described below transmit signals and are built into the door control transmitter.
- The transmitter's operational area must be taken into account while checks are being made.

(a) Make sure the vehicle is in a condition in which the wireless door lock control functions can be operated (see previous step).
(b) Check the basic functions:
- Check that the transmitter's LED lights up 3 times when each switch is pressed 3 times.
HINT: If the LED does not illuminate when the switch has been pressed 3 times or more, the battery may be depleted.
- Check that when the LOCK switch is pressed, all doors lock and outer mirrors retract.
- Check that when the UNLOCK switch is pressed once, only the driver side door unlocks and outer mirrors return. When the unlock switch is pressed again within 3 seconds, check that all doors unlock (2-step unlock function)*.
HINT: *: The 2-step unlock function applies only if the setting of this function is default.
- Check that when the LUGGAGE switch is pressed for 1 second or more, the luggage compartment door opens.
HINT: If the Luggage door opening switch is ON, luggage compartment door cannot be opened by the door control transmitter operation.
- When within 1 m of the driver seat, check that when the UNLOCK switch is held down for 3 seconds or more, all the power windows and sliding roof open. Also check that the open operation stops when the switch is released.

(c) Check the chattering prevention function:
- If a switch is pressed, check that the corresponding operation is performed only once. If the switch is held down, check that the corresponding operation occurs only once and does not repeatedly activate. Lastly, if a switch is pressed at 1 second intervals, check that the corresponding operation activates once for every press of the switch.

(d) Check the answer-back function:
- When the LOCK switch is pressed, check that the turn signal lights flash once, the wireless door lock buzzer sounds once and all doors lock.
- When the UNLOCK switch is pressed, check that the turn signal lights flash twice, the wireless door lock buzzer sounds twice and all doors unlock.
- When the LUGGAGE switch is held down for 1 second or more, check that the luggage compartment door opens.

(e) Check the automatic lock function:
- When all of the doors are unlocked with the UNLOCK switch and none of the doors are opened or locked within 60 seconds*, check that the doors lock again.
HINT: *: The automatic lock function (60 seconds) applies only if the setting of this function is default.

(f) Check the panic alarm function:
- When the PANIC switch is held down for 1 second and more, check that the security horn and vehicle horn sound, and the headlights, taillights, turn signal lights flash and the map light and spot light light up.

(g) Check the switch operation fail-safe function:
- If the key is in the vehicle, check that the doors cannot be locked by the LOCK switch. However, this does not apply when the system is in the recognition code registration mode.

(h) Check the illuminated entry function:
- When the map light's DOOR switch is ON and all the doors are locked, pressing the UNLOCK switch causes the dome light (map light, rear map light), outer foot lights and foot lights to illuminate and all doors to unlock simultaneously.
- If the doors have not been opened, the map light and spot light turn off in approximately 15 seconds.

(i) Check the door ajar warning function:
- If a door is open or not completely closed, check that the doors cannot be locked by the LOCK switch and the buzzer sounds for 10 seconds.
HINT: The buzzer stops sounding if either of the following conditions is met:
- Buzzer has sounded for 10 seconds
- Power switch ON (ACC or IG)
- All doors are closed.
