Side Airbag Sensor








SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (VEHICLE NOT INVOLVED IN COLLISION)
(a) Perform a diagnostic system check Diagnosis System.
2. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG HAS NOT DEPLOYED)
(a) Perform a diagnostic system check Diagnosis System.
(b) When the center pillar of the vehicle or its area is damaged, check if there is any damage to the side airbag sensor. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the side airbag sensor with a new one:
- Cracks, dents or chips on the sensor housing.
- Cracks or other damage to the connector.
- Peeling off of the label or damage to the serial number.
CAUTION: For removal and installation procedures of the side airbag sensor, be sure to follow the correct procedure.

3. CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED)
(a) When airbag have deployed as the result of a collision, be certain to replace all side airbag sensor in the damaged area (anywhere in need of repair). Furthermore, it is also necessary to replace any front airbag sensor in undamaged areas that have registered a major collision, or which exhibit any of the following abnormalities:
- Cracks, dents or chips on the sensor housing.
- Cracks or other damage to the connector.
- Peeling off of the label or damage to the serial number.
CAUTION: For removal and installation procedures of the side airbag sensor, be sure to follow the correct procedure.
