Applicability
Introduction
Some 2007 - 2009 model year LS 460/460L and 2008 - 2009 model year LS 600h vehicles may exhibit an SRS light "ON" condition with DTC B1861 and/or B1866. Use the following repair procedure to address this concern.
TSB Overview
After confirming the vehicle condition matches this bulletin, this TSIB will direct you to replace the instrument panel wire harness. In order to do this, it is necessary to first remove several major components, such as the upper instrument panel, steering column, instrument panel reinforcement assembly, and the air conditioning unit. This bulletin provides detailed instructions on the removal and installation of these components.

This TSIB applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown.
Warranty Information
APPLICABLE WARRANTY
^ This repair is covered under the Lexus Restraint Systems Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 72 months or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
^ Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.
Parts Information
Refer to the "Instrument Panel Wire Harness Part Number Identification" section in this TSIB to determine the correct part number to order for the vehicle.
Required Tools & Equipment
Diagnostic Procedure: DTC B18611B1866
1. Using Techstream confirm that DTC B1861 or B1866 is present or in history.
2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION
Work must be started more than 90 seconds AFTER the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery. (The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source. If work is started within 90 seconds from disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable of the battery, the SRS may deploy.)
3. Disconnect the knee airbag squib.
Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
4. Connect the knee airbag squib.
5. Connect the negative (-) battery terminal.
6. Turn the engine switch (IG) ON and wait at least 60 seconds.
7. Clear the DTCs stored in memory.
8. Turn the engine switch (IG) OFF.
9. Turn the engine switch (IG) ON and wait at least 60 seconds.
10. Check for SRS DTCs.
A. If DTC B1861 or B1866 is present refer to TIS applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
B. If DTC B1861 or B1866 is no longer present replace the instrument panel wire harness.
Instrument Panel Wire Harness Part Number Identification
To order the correct part locate the part number on the harness near the connector for the passenger side knee airbag assembly. To access the part tag remove the passenger side knee airbag assembly.

NOTE
In order to replace the instrument panel wire harness, the air conditioning unit must be removed.
1. Remove the air conditioning unit.
NOTE
Removing the air conditioning unit will include removing the upper instrument panel, steering column, and the instrument panel reinforcement.
Refer to TIS applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
2. Remove the instrument panel wire harness.
3. Install the NEW instrument panel wire harness.
4. Install the air conditioning unit.

5. Clear all DTCs and initialize affected power Systems.
