DRIVE SHAFT: FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY: DISASSEMBLY

DISASSEMBLY

1. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH






(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the front No. 2 axle inboard joint boot clamp LH as shown in the illustration.
2. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

3. REMOVE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH
(a) Remove the inboard joint boot clamp using the same procedures as the front No. 2 axle inboard joint boot clamp LH.
4. REMOVE FRONT AXLE INBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

5. DISCONNECT INBOARD JOINT BOOT
(a) Disconnect the inboard joint boot from the inboard joint assembly.
6. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INBOARD JOINT ASSEMBLY LH






(a) Put matchmarks on the inboard joint assembly and outboard joint shaft.
NOTE: Do not use a punch for the matchmarks.

(b) Remove the inboard joint assembly from the outboard joint shaft.






(c) Put matchmarks on the outboard joint shaft and tripod joint.
NOTE: Do not use a punch for the matchmarks.

(d) Using a snap ring expander, remove the shaft snap ring.






(e) Using a brass bar and hammer, tap out the tripod joint from the outboard joint shaft.
NOTE: Do not tap the roller.

7. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE INBOARD JOINT ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

8. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT DAMPER RH






(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the front drive shaft damper clamp as shown in the illustration.
(b) Remove the drive shaft damper.
9. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH






(a) Using pliers, remove the front No. 2 axle outboard joint boot clamp LH as shown in the illustration.
10. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

11. REMOVE FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP LH
(a) Remove the outboard joint boot clamp using the same procedures as the No. 2 inboard joint boot clamp.
12. REMOVE FRONT AXLE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT CLAMP RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

13. REMOVE OUTBOARD JOINT BOOT
(a) Remove the outboard joint boot from the outboard joint shaft.
(b) Remove the grease from the outboard joint.
14. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT HOLE SNAP RING LH






(a) Using a screwdriver, pry out the front drive shaft hole snap ring.
15. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT BEARING






(a) Using a snap ring expander, remove the drive shaft hole snap ring.






(b) Using SST and a press, press out the bearing.
SST: 09527-10011
NOTE: Be careful not to drop the inboard joint assembly.
