16. CHECK AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM
(a) Check the air induction system for vacuum leakage Testing and Inspection.
OK:
No leakage from air induction system.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM
OK -- Continue to next step.
17. CHECK SPARKS AND IGNITION
(a) Check the sparks and ignition Testing and Inspection.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE IGNITION SYSTEM
OK -- REPLACE ECM
18. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
OK:
No gas leakage.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE EXHAUST GAS LEAKAGE POINT
OK -- Continue to next step.
19. INSPECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HEATER RESISTANCE) P0037
NG -- REPLACE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
20. INSPECT EFI RELAY (EFI MAIN2)
(a) Inspect the EFI MAIN2 relay EFI Relay.
NG -- REPLACE EFI RELAY (EFI MAIN2)
OK -- Continue to next step.
21. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR - ECM)




(a) Disconnect the E62 or L49 HO2 sensor connector.
(b) Turn the power switch ON (IG).
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:





(d) Turn the power switch OFF.
(e) Disconnect the A13 and E1 ECM connectors.
(f) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance (Check for open):






Standard resistance (Check for short):










NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
22. REPLACE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR
(a) Replace the heated oxygen sensor Removal.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
23. PERFORM CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN




(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch ON (READY).
(c) Warm up the engine until the engine coolant temperature is 75°C (167°F) or higher.
(d) Drive the vehicle at 70 to 120 km/h (45 to 75 mph) for at least 10 minutes or more.
(e) Stop the vehicle.
(f) Accelerate the vehicle to 80 km/h (50 mph) for 10 seconds or more.
(g) Move the shift lever to S3 range, and decelerate the vehicle for 7 seconds or more.
(h) Turn the Techstream ON.
(i) On the Techstream, enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
(j) Input DTCs: P0136, P0137, P0138, P0156, P0157 and P0158.
(k) Check that DTC MONITOR is NORMAL. If DTC MONITOR is INCOMPLETE, perform the drive pattern by increasing the vehicle speed and using the S2 range to decelerate the vehicle.
OK:
No DTC is output.
NG -- REPLACE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR
OK -- REPAIR COMPLETE
24. REPLACE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR
(a) Replace the air fuel ratio sensor Removal.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
25. PERFORM CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN




(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch ON (READY).
(c) Turn the Techstream ON.
(d) Warm up the engine until the engine coolant temperature is 75°C (167°F) or higher.
(e) Drive the vehicle at 70 to 120 km/h (45 to 75 mph) for at least 10 minutes or more.
(f) Stop the vehicle.
(g) Accelerate the vehicle to 80 km/h (50 mph) for 10 seconds or more.
(h) Move the shift lever to S3 range, and decelerate the vehicle for 7 seconds or more [C].
(i) On the Techstream, enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.
(j) Input DTCs: P0136, P0137, P0138, P0156, P0157 and P0158.
(k) Check that DTC MONITOR is NORMAL. If DTC MONITOR is INCOMPLETE, perform the drive pattern by increasing the vehicle speed and using the S2 range to decelerate the vehicle.
OK:
No DTC is output.
NG -- REPLACE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR
OK -- REPAIR COMPLETE
26. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (OUTPUT VOLTAGE OF HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR)
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the power switch ON (READY).
(c) Turn the Techstream ON.
(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / A/F Control System / O2S B1S2 or O2S B2S2.
(e) After warming up the engine, run the engine at an engine speed of 2500 rpm for 3 minutes.
(f) Engine is idling.
(g) Depress the accelerator pedal quickly until the engine rpm reaches 2500 rpm 3 times.

INSPECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (CHECK FOR SHORT)




(a) Disconnect the E62 or L49 HO2 sensor connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHECK FOR SHORT)




(a) Turn the power switch OFF and wait for 5 minutes.
(b) Disconnect the A13 ECM connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE ECM
29. PERFORM CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

30. READ DTC OUTPUT (DTC P0139 OR P0159 IS OUTPUT AGAIN)
