INSTRUMENT PANEL: INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD: REMOVAL
REMOVAL
1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT
HINT: All bolts, screws and nuts relevant to installing and removing the instrument panel are shown along with their alphabet code in the table below.
2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
3. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD LH Removal
4. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH Removal
5. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
(a) Disable the AUTO TILT AWAY function by changing the customize parameter Repair Instruction - Customize Parameters.
NOTICE:
Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the AUTO TILT AWAY function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing the operation.
HINT: Performing the above operation causes the AUTO TILT AWAY function to be disabled when the power switch is turned OFF.
(b) Turn the power switch ON (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column.
(c) Turn the power switch OFF and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
NOTICE:
- After the power switch is turned OFF, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch OFF, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
- When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH
(a) Using a moulding remover, detach the 8 clips and claw.
(b) Remove the finish panel end.
7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END RH
(a) Using a moulding remover, detach the 8 clips and claw.
(b) Remove the finish panel end.
8. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Twist the shift lever knob in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove it.
9. REMOVE NO. 3 BOX PANEL
(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the 4 claws.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(b) Remove the box panel.
10. REMOVE REAR UPPER CONSOLE PANEL
(a) Place protective tape as shown in the illustration.
(b) Move the shift lever to N.
(c) Remove the 2 screws.
(d) Using a screwdriver, detach the 6 clips.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(e) Remove the panel and disconnect the connectors.
11. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Place protective tape as shown in the illustration.
(b) Detach the 2 clips.
(c) Remove the panel and disconnect the connector.
12. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE END PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Using a moulding remover, detach the 5 clips and 2 claws.
(b) Remove the end panel and then disconnect the connector.
13. REMOVE LOWER CONSOLE COVER
(a) Remove the cover.
14. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 4 bolts and 2 screws.
(b) Disconnect the connectors.
(c) Detach the 2 claws and remove the console box.
15. REMOVE SWITCH AND VOLUME CASE Removal
16. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER Removal
17. REMOVE STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY Removal
18. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Removal
19. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/o Driver Monitor Camera) Removal
20. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (w/ Driver Monitor Camera) Removal
21. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
22. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL LH
(a) Detach the 6 clips and remove the side panel.
23. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOULDING
(a) Detach the 2 clips and remove the moulding.
24. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Using a screwdriver, detach the claw.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
(b) Remove the hole cover.
(c) Remove the 2 screws.
(d) Detach the 5 clips and claw.
(e) Remove the safety pad and then disconnect the connectors.
25. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 clips.
(b) Place protective tape as shown in the illustration.
(c) With your thumb on the instrument panel, pull the finish panel towards the rear of the vehicle with your other fingers to detach the clip on the right side.
NOTICE:
Pulling with excessive force will cause damage to the surface of the instrument panel safety pad.
(d) With your thumb on the instrument panel, pull the finish panel towards the rear of the vehicle with your other fingers to detach the clip on the left side.
NOTICE:
Pulling with excessive force will cause damage to the surface of the instrument panel safety pad.
(e) Hold the back of the finish panel with your right hand, and disconnect the light control rheostat connector with your left hand.
(f) Hold the back of the finish panel with your right hand. Then disconnect the trip switch connector and remove the finish panel with your left hand.
26. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 4 screws.
(b) Disconnect the connector and remove the combination meter.
27. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 2 screws.
(b) Detach the 2 claws.
(c) Disconnect the connectors and clamp, and remove the under cover.
28. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal
29. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH
(a) Detach the 6 clips and remove the side panel.
30. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MOULDING
(a) Using a moulding remover, detach the 5 clips and remove the moulding.
31. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Detach the 4 claws.
(b) Remove the under cover and then disconnect the connector.
32. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL Removal
33. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal
34. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the 5 screws.
(b) Disconnect the connector and clamp, and remove the compartment door.
35. REMOVE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET Removal
36. REMOVE MULTI-DISPLAY ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET Removal
37. REMOVE DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION ASSEMBLY WITH BRACKET (for HDD) Removal
38. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY
(a) Place protective tape as shown in the illustration.
(b) Disconnect the connector.
(c) Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 lower claws.
(d) Detach the 2 upper claws and remove the register.
39. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSEMBLY
(a) Place protective tape as shown in the illustration.
(b) Disconnect the connector.
(c) Using a moulding remover, detach the 2 lower claws.
(d) Detach the 2 upper claws and remove the register.
40. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH Removal
41. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH Removal
42. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
43. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (for LH Side) Removal
44. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL SPEAKER PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
45. REMOVE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY (for RH Side) Removal
46. REMOVE NO. 1 SPEAKER HOLE COVER Removal
47. REMOVE FRONT NO. 3 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY Removal
48. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the connectors and clamps.
(b) Detach the 2 claws and remove the sensor.
(c) Remove the 2 passenger airbag bolts.
(d) Remove the 5 bolts and nut.
(e) Detach the 5 claws and remove the safety pad.
49. REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL STAY
(a) Detach the 5 claws and remove the 5 stays.
