3. INSPECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (CHECK FOR SHORT)

(a) Disconnect the K57 or K34 HO2 sensor connector.





(b) Measure the resistance.

Standard resistance (Bank 1 sensor 2):





Standard resistance (Bank 2 sensor 2):





(c) Reconnect the HO2 sensor connector.

NG -- REPLACE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CHECK FOR SHORT)

(a) Turn the power switch off and wait for 5 minutes.

(b) Disconnect the E83 and A53 ECM connectors.

(c) Measure the resistance.
Standard resistance:





(d) Reconnect the ECM connector.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE ECM Removal

5. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (INJECTION VOLUME)

(a) Put the engine in inspection mode Inspection Mode Procedure.

(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Warm up the engine.

(e) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the Injection Volume.

(f) Change the fuel injection volume using the tester, monitoring the output voltage of Air-Fuel Ratio (A/F) and HO2 sensor displayed on the Techstream.

HINT
- Change the fuel injection volume within the range of -12% and +12%. The injection volume can be changed in 0.1% or 0.2% graduations within the range.
- The A/F sensor is displayed as AFS Voltage B1S1 or AFS Voltage B2S1, and the HO2 sensor is displayed as O2S B1S2 or O2S B2S2, on the Techstream.
- The air fuel ratio sensor has an output delay of a few seconds and the heated oxygen sensor has a maximum output delay of approximately 20 seconds.

HINT
A normal HO2 sensor voltage (O2S B1S2 or O2S B2S2) reacts in accordance with increases and decreases in fuel injection volumes. When the A/F sensor voltage remains either less or more than 3.3 V despite the HO2 sensor indicating a normal reaction, the A/F sensor is malfunctioning.

6. INSPECT AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR

HINT
This air fuel ratio sensor test is to check the air fuel ratio sensor current during fuel-cut. When the sensor is normal, the sensor current indicates less than 3.0 mA in this test.

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Drive the vehicle according to the drive pattern listed below:

(1) Put the engine in inspection mode Inspection Mode Procedure.

(2) Warm up the engine until the engine coolant temperature reaches 75°C (167°F) or more.

(3) Drive the vehicle at 37 mph (60 km/h) or more and decelerate the vehicle for 5 seconds or more.

(4) Repeat the deceleration above at least 3 times.





(e) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Monitor / O2 Sensor / Details.

(f) Confirm that RANGE B1S1 or RANGE B2S1 / Result is either Pass or Fail. If the tester shows Fail, re-check RANGE B1S1 or RANGE B2S1 / Result after performing the drive pattern.

(g) Select the RANGE B1S1 or RANGE B2S1 / Details.

(h) Read the Test Value.

Standard current:

Less than 3.0 mA

HINT
If the tester shows Fail again, add the vehicle speed and use the second gear to decelerate the vehicle.

7. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (OUTPUT VOLTAGE OF HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR)

(a) Put the engine in inspection mode Inspection Mode Procedure.

(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Start the engine and warm it up.

(e) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the Injection Volume.

(f) Change the fuel injection volume using the Techstream, and monitor the voltage output of heated oxygen sensor displayed on the Techstream.

HINT
- Change the fuel injection volume within the range of -12% and +12%. The injection volume can be changed in 1% graduations within the range.
- The heated oxygen sensor is displayed as O2S B1S2 or O2S B2S2 on the Techstream.
- The heated oxygen sensor has a maximum output delay of approximately 20 seconds.

Standard voltage:

Fluctuates between 0.4 V or less and 0.55 V or more.

NG -- CHECK EXHAUST GAS LEAKAGE
OK -- Continue to next step.
8. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (INJECTION VOLUME)

(a) Put the engine in inspection mode Inspection Mode Procedure.

(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Warm up the engine.

(e) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the Injection Volume.

(f) Change the fuel injection volume using the tester, monitoring the output voltage of Air-Fuel Ratio (A/F) and HO2 sensor displayed on the Techstream.

HINT
- Change the fuel injection volume within the range of -12% and +12%. The injection volume can be changed in 0.1% or 0.2% graduations within the range.
- The A/F sensor is displayed as AFS Voltage B1S1 or AFS Voltage B2S1, and the HO2 sensor is displayed as O2S B1S2 or O2S B2S2, on the Techstream.

9. CHECK EXHAUST GAS LEAKAGE

(a) Check for exhaust gas leakage from the exhaust manifold and pipe.

OK:

No gas leakage.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE EXHAUST GAS LEAKAGE POINT
OK -- Continue to next step.

10. INSPECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HEATER RESISTANCE)

(a) Disconnect the K57 or K34 heated oxygen (HO2) sensor connectors.





(b) Measure the resistance of the HO2 sensor connector.

Standard resistance (Bank 1 sensor 2):





Standard resistance (Bank 2 sensor 2):





(c) Reconnect the HO2 sensor connector.

NG -- REPLACE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR - ECM) P0037

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

12. REPLACE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR

(a) Replace the heated oxygen sensor Removal.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

13. PERFORM CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Clear the DTC DTC Check / Clear.

(e) Turn the power switch off and wait for 30 seconds.

(f) Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
(g) Put the engine in inspection mode Inspection Mode Procedure.

(h) Start the engine and warm it up until the engine coolant temperature reaches 75°C (167°F) or more.

(i) Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in the Confirmation Driving Pattern for P0136, P0137, P0138, P0156, P0157 and P0158.

14. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (P0136, P0137, P0138, P0156, P0157 OR P0158)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.

(e) Input DTC: P0136, P0137, P0138, P0156, P0157 or P0158.

(f) Check the DTC judgment result.

If STATUS is INCOMPLETE or UNKNOWN, perform the driving pattern adding the vehicle speed.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Clear the DTC DTC Check / Clear.

(e) Turn the power switch off and wait for 30 seconds.

(f) Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.

(g) Put the engine in inspection mode Inspection Mode Procedure.

(h) Start the engine and warm it up until the engine coolant temperature reaches 75°C (167°F) or more.

(i) Drive the vehicle in accordance with the driving pattern described in the Confirmation Driving Pattern for P0136, P0137, P0138, P0156, P0157 and P0158.

17. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (P0136, P0138, P0156 OR P0158)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness.


(e) Input DTC: P0136, P0138, P0156 or P0158.

(f) Check the DTC judgment result.

18. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (OUTPUT VOLTAGE OF HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR)

(a) Put the engine in inspection mode Inspection Mode Procedure.

(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / O2S B1S2 or O2S B2S2.


(e) Allow the engine to idle.

(f) Read the Heated Oxygen (HO2) sensor output voltage while idling.

21. READ VALUE USING DTC OUTPUT (DTC P0139 OR P0159 IS OUTPUT AGAIN)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.





(b) Turn the power switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Clear the DTC DTC Check / Clear.

(e) Turn the power switch off and wait for 30 seconds.

(f) Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on [A].

(g) Put the engine in inspection mode Inspection Mode Procedure.

(h) Start the engine and warm it up until the engine coolant temperature reaches 75°C (167°F) or more [B].

(i) Drive the vehicle at 37 mph (60 km/h), and then decelerate the vehicle by releasing the accelerator pedal for 5 seconds or more to perform the fuel-cut [C].

(j) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / All Readiness [D].

(k) Input DTC: P0139 or P0159.

(l) Check that the result is NORMAL. If the result is INCOMPLETE, perform the driving pattern adding the vehicle speed and using the second gear to decelerate the vehicle.
