DESCRIPTION

When the engine switch is on (IG) and the passenger seat is occupied, the center airbag sensor communicates the status of the front seat inner belt (passenger side) to the combination meter using the BEAN line. When the seat belt is unfastened, the combination meter flashes the passenger side seat belt warning light on the display and navigation module display. When the seat belt is fastened, the combination meter stops flashing the passenger side seat belt warning light.

PROCEDURE

1. SYSTEM CHECK

(a) Confirm the vehicle model.

Result:

A -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM

(a) Check for supplemental restraint system (SRS) DTCs.

Result:





B -- GO TO SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM
A -- Continue to next step.

3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Ignition switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the tester ON.

(d) Enter following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.

(e) Check the operation by referring to the table below.

Combination Meter:





OK:

Seat belt warning light for passenger side operates normally.

NG -- CHECK COMBINATION METER

OK -- REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY

4. CHECK COMBINATION METER

(a) Check that the entire combination meter operates normally.

OK:

Entire combination meter operates normally.

NG -- GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. INSPECT FUSE (ECU-IG RH)

(a) Remove the ECU-IG RH and AM2 fuses from the cowl side junction block LH.

(b) Remove the TV fuse from the cowl side junction block RH.

(c) Measure the resistance of the fuses.

Standard resistance:

Below 1 Ohms

NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY CIRCUIT)

(a) Disconnect the K46 display and navigation module display connector.





(b) Measure the voltage and resistance of the wire harness side connector.

Standard voltage:





Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. INSPECT DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY (SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT FOR PASSENGER SIDE)

(a) Remove the display and navigation module display.

(b) Apply battery voltage to the panel and check that the light illuminates.

Standard:





NG -- REPLACE DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY
OK -- Continue to next step.

8. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (COMBINATION METER - DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY)

(a) Disconnect the K31 meter connector.

(b) Disconnect the K99 display and navigation module display connector.

(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER

9. CHECK DTC

(a) Check for DTCs.

Result:





D -- GO TO OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM

C -- GO TO SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM

B -- GO TO MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION CIRCUIT
A -- Continue to next step.

10. INSPECT FUSE

(a) Remove the ECU-IG RH fuse from the driver side junction block.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.

11. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Ignition switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the tester ON.

(d) Enter following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Active Test.

(e) Check the operation by referring to the table below.

Combination Meter:





HINT
*: Confirm that the vehicle is stopped with the engine idling.

OK:

Passenger seat belt warning light condition can be switched by "Active Test".

NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER
OK -- Continue to next step.

12. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY CIRCUIT)

(a) Disconnect the K99 display and navigation module display connector.

(b) Measure the resistance and voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





Standard voltage:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

13. CHECK DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY

(a) Disconnect the K46 display and navigation module display connector.

(b) Connect the positive (+) lead to terminal 3 (IG), and the negative (-) battery's lead to terminals K99-5 (PBEW) and 10 (GND1).

(c) Check that thee seat belt warning light comes on.

OK:

Seat belt warning light comes on.

NG -- REPLACE DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY
OK -- Continue to next step.

14. INSPECT FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Disconnect the a18 belt connector.





(b) Connect the battery's positive lead (+) to terminal 1 of the front seat inner belt RH connector.

(c) Connect the battery's negative lead (-) to the negative (-) terminal of a tester.

(d) Connect the positive (+) terminal of the tester to terminal 2 of the front seat inner belt RH connector.

(e) Measure the current according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard current:
