Height Control Sensor Circuit
LIGHTING: LIGHTING SYSTEM: Height Control Sensor Circuit
- Height Control Sensor Circuit
DESCRIPTION
This circuit provides power to operate the height control sensor. The headlight beam level control ECU calculates a height value from the height control sensor signal and the voltage at the power source of the height control sensor. The voltage at the power source of the height control sensor is corrected when SHFL or SHRL is detected.

PROCEDURE
1. INSPECT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR (FRONT LH)
(a) Connect the 3 dry cell batteries (1.5 V) in series.
(b) Remove the height control sensor front LH.
(c) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3 and the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal 1.
(d) Measure the voltage between terminals 2 and 1 while slowly moving the link up and down.
Standard voltage:
NG -- REPLACE HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR (FRONT LH)
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR (REAR LH)
(a) Connect the 3 dry cell batteries (1.5 V) in series.
(b) Remove the height control sensor rear LH.
(c) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3 and the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal 1.
(d) Measure the voltage between terminals 2 and 1 while slowly moving the link up and down.
Standard voltage:
NG -- REPLACE HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR (REAR LH)
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (HEADLIGHT BEAM LEVEL CONTROL ECU - HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR (FRONT LH OR REAR LH))
(a) Check the wire harness between the headlight beam level control ECU and height control sensor (front LH).
(1) Disconnect A43 ECU connector.
(2) Disconnect A20 or q4 sensor connector.
(3) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:
2GR-FSE
1UR-FSE
(b) Check the wire harness between the headlight beam level control ECU and height control sensor (rear LH).
(1) Disconnect A43 ECU connector.
(2) Disconnect o2 sensor connector.
(3) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
