Rear Wheel Alignment

SUSPENSION: REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT: ADJUSTMENT

NOTICE:
If the wheel alignment has been adjusted, or if suspension or underbody components have been removed/installed or replaced, be sure to perform the following initialization procedure in order for the system to function normally.

* Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal for more than 2 seconds.
* Reconnect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
* Perform zero point calibration of the yaw rate and acceleration sensor and test mode inspection.
1. INSPECT TIRES

Component Tests and General Diagnostics

2. MEASURE VEHICLE HEIGHT

Front Wheel Alignment

NOTICE:
Before inspecting wheel alignment, adjust vehicle height to the specified value.

3. INSPECT TOE-IN

Toe-in:

If the toe-in is not within the specified range, inspect the suspension parts and replace if necessary.

4. ADJUST TOE-IN

(a) Loosen the toe adjust cam nut.

(b) Turn the adjust cams by an equal amount to adjust toe-in.

HINT
* Try to adjust the toe-in to the center value.
* The toe-in will change by the following specifications corresponding to each graduation of the cam.
* Approx. 4.0 mm (0.16 in.)
(c) Tighten the nut.

Torque : 50 Nm (510 kgf-cm, 37 ft-lbf)

5. INSPECT CAMBER

(a) Install a camber-caster-kingpin gauge or put the wheels on a wheel alignment tester.

(b) Inspect the camber.

CAMBER:

(b) If the measured value is not within the specified range, inspect the suspension parts for damage and wear. Replace parts as necessary because camber cannot be properly adjusted with any damaged or worn parts.

6. INSPECT REAR SUSPENSION

(a) Inspect the rear suspension member.

(1) Measure the distance between the centers of the installation bolts of the rear suspension arm assembly No.2 LH and RH.

Standard:

536.8 to 543.7 mm (21.13 to 21.41 in.)

HINT
If the distance is not within the specified range, replace the rear suspension member.

(2) Visually inspect the press holes on the installation area of the upper control arm assembly rear No.2.

Standard:

The holes are not deformed.

HINT
If the holes are deformed, replace the rear suspension member.

(b) Inspect the rear suspension arm assembly No.2.

(1) Measure the distance between the centers of the 2 installation bolts of the rear suspension arm assembly No.2.

Standard:

433.5 to 434.5 mm (17.07 to 17.11 in.)

HINT
If the distance is not within the specified range, replace the rear suspension arm assembly No.2.

(c) Inspect the upper control arm assembly rear No.2.

(1) Measure the distance between the centers of the installation bolt of the upper control arm assembly rear No.2 and the ball joint stud.

Standard:

307.3 to 308.7 mm (12.10 to 12.15 in.)

HINT
If the distance is not within the specified range, replace the upper control arm assembly rear No.2.

(d) Inspect and adjust toe-in and camber.

(1) Inspect toe-in and camber.

If the value are not within the specified range, adjust the installation bolt holding the rear suspension member to the vehicle body, or the bolt holding the upper control arm and rear suspension arm so that the values fall within the specified range.

7. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

8. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:
Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal for more than 2 seconds.

9. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

10. PERFORM YAW RATE AND ACCELERATION SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION

HINT
Perform yaw rate and acceleration sensor zero point calibration.

* w/ Vehicle Stability Control System: Vehicle Stability Control System
* w/ Electronically Controlled Brake System: Calibration
11. CHECK STEERING ANGLE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION

HINT
Check the steering angle sensor zero point calibration.

* w/ Vehicle Stability Control System: C1290
* w/ Electronically Controlled Brake System: C1290
